lauraleann :  May might be too hot for a beach wedding. I had a beach wedding in St Pete and we opted for November as it was off season (less tourists/better prices), the temperature was more moderate and we avoided much of hurricane season

Hurricane season lasts through November 30, and the Gulf is notorious for attracting huge storms.

It’s rare to get a November hurricane. I wouldn’t let that fear dictate your day.

May is going to be sweltering. Go for November, in destin it’ll likely be 70s

I now live in a beach town on the Gulf (Galveston TX, not in FL), and there were some cold days in November this year. It’s so hit or miss as to whether a cold front is going to come through or if it will be its normal temp. Also, I would avoid hurricane season like the plague.

I got married in Cancun in May this past year. May was out of hurricane season, we did it early enough that schools weren’t out yet. And we had amazing weather. It was a little warm, maybe mid 80s, but the evening was about 70 and breezy on the beach.

lauraleann :  yeah unfortunately Florida weather is unpredictable in general but if you’re going to have an outdoor wedding I would pick the day where the potential for it being 90 degrees is completely off the table. Sweltering to me is above 80 though (especially in Florida with the humidity) so we may have two different ideas of temperature 🙂 there’s a reason I left Florida!

lauraleann :  I’m from Tampa! But very familiar from the destin area. I think the other thing that would be appealing for me for November is that it will be “winter” prices for most hotels so it will be significantly cheaper than May just a little bit cooler weather (again mostly likely 70s because it’s so early in the month.) My favorite time to visit family is  Halloween because it’s warm but not crowded (and nephew Halloween costumes!) you’re basically in October there but just get the benefit of November prices. Just my two cents though!

ETA if you can do late April like 20th or so that would be much better! The spring break crowd will be gone and it’s wild how much of a difference those 10-15 days make

another ETA that just popped into my head, the water will be much warm in early November than early May! If you’re a water sport type of person

lauraleann :  You could go in May and it rain. You could do November and it be sunny. You wont really be able to get an idea until about 1-2 weeks before. I’d just go ahead and do November.
