Does anyone subscribe to a monthly beauty box? I have read about them and there are so many- Birchbox, Beauty Army, Eco Emi, Luxe Box, Allure Beauty Box, just to name a few- mind boggling! Does anyone have a personal opinion on which is a good bet?

I’m from canada and I subscribe to a few of the ones offered here. I have been getting Glossy box since May, I had Glymm for 3 months and I’m getting my first luxe box next week and first Top box in october. Glymm was a great box but had horrible customer service. I’ve been enjoying Glossy box, it has less higher end products though, but ultimately I’ve either gotten brands I know and can use or brands I’ve never tried and got to try them. I believe in the US beauty army is the one where you get to pick your beauty samples each month. I enjoy the service of getting them, it’s always a nice surprise to get to find out what’s in my box. And it’s always fun to try new products.

What in the world is this? Is it like a bento box? I’ve never heard of it.

@EffieTrinket: Basically, it is a monthly service where you get sent a number of beauty/cosmetic samples. Depending on the services I have looked at, they seem to average around 5-7 samples, and be between $10-$20 a month. I flipping love getting mail (who doesn’t?!) and surprise mail is even better! The only thing that makes me hesitate is that I worry I will get products I would never use- stuff for dry hair or makeup that doesn’t match my skin tone or something. But I guess the beauty of it is that it is pretty cheap and you can cancel it whenever you want.

I get Birchbox. It’s definitely fun, but I have yet to use most of the samples, especially the perfumes. I wish I could opt out of perfumes, actually. I’m so picky about them and so many make me want to gag. The highlights are the nail polishes and I’ve gotten 2 really great lipsticks, one of which is a Tart product I already buy and is something like $20 or so. It was a full size item. I’ve also used a few of the shampoos and things when traveling. I suppose I’m getting my money’s worth, but mostly, I like the anticipation and fun of opening a new box.
ETA: with Birchbox, you tell them your hair and skin type so that you don’t get things for oily skin if yours is dry, etc.

It’s a cute idea but I’m picky w. my makeup and cosmetic products so for the money it’s just not worth it to me. I know what I like and I go buy it, basically.
