My fiance and I have finally decided on a honeymoon. It will involve a few days in Montreal. I am looking for suggestions on affordable, but clean and nice hotels in the Montreal area as well as restaurants and sight seeing opportunities. We are considering renting an apartment/vacation home from vrbo.com but want to compare those prices and amenities with some hotels.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

when you say affordable, what is your price range? like i love the hotels like the Omni, Queen Elizabeth and the Marriott. But not sure if they will be too expensive – also they are all great locations in downtown Montreal.

I would HIGHLY recommend Hotel Anne ma soeur Anne:
It’s right on Saint Denis so there is beautiful dining, shopping, people watching nearby. The rooms are adorable and romantic, ours faced onto a courtyard that had live jazz on Friday and Saturday evenings.
The room had a small kitchenette and we got croissants and preserves outside out door in the mornings. This is my favorite hotel in Montreal for charm and rates are $80-130/night depending what time of year you go.

@bananejaune: thanks. looks like a cute place! i will look into it.
@purpleunicorn: those hotels look awesome too. i only checked the price on one, which was about 250/night. it’s gorgeous, but unfortunately out of our price range. 🙁
we are looking for rooms around 100-150/night.

there are lots of great hotels in downtown montreal. There is excellent dining on Cresent St (we went to Seven…fantastic!) and all the shopping is on St. Catherine’s street, which is perpendicular to Cresent, and very close.
We stayed about a block from the bell center, and I think we paid about 120-150 a night.
Check out the hotels you might be interested in, then look at hotels.com, or hotwire.com. Hotwire will give you good deals, and let you pick the star rating that you want, but won’t give you the name of your hotel until you book. Might be a great way to save some cash if you’re adventerous!

I have never been here but I was looking into renting the place to stay at during my wedding.
