Can you tell my pictures are starting to come in? I can’t stop making photo threads! Luckily, we all love photo threads
I want to see and hear the story of photos that were awkward to pose! Everyone must have one of those, where you either felt like an idiot or were 100% sure the picture was going to look like crap … but then it didn’t.
In my case, we were trying to recreate a pose I’d seen and loved somewhere, but Darling Husband was having some trouble grasping what we were trying to do. The photographer told me to put my back against the pillar, and then told Darling Husband to stand real close and “put your hand on her throat.”
And he was like, “what? the f*ck? Like, choke her?” It didn’t really get awkward until I threw in the word “rapey” to describe what we were trying to do. “You know, stand all close to me with your hand on my throat, sort of rape-like. Like if someone walked out of a bar and saw this, they’d stay put and watch for a moment to make sure nothing bad was going on.” And damn if it isn’t a great picture!

Well mine didn’t quite turn out how it was supposed to but it is probably my favorite picture from the day.
Our photographer wanted to get a sweet, loving, serious picture with Darling Husband kissing my forehead. But every time he went to do so, I’d start laughing because the forehead kiss just isn’t something he typically does. We finally just gave up on the serious picture and got this instead! It totally shows our personalities and our relationship, I think. Totally in love yet totally silly and always having a good time.

Apparently my Darling Husband missed out on all of the awkward shots?
I am actually kneeling on the ground in this photo. It was really awkward to get up and down, with the hoops in my skirt! It was definitely worth it though. Totally my favorite bridal portrait.
I looooove this one and it looks semi-natural on film, but it was super awkward to pose. I am pretty much dislocating my hop to one side and felt like I was going to fall, all off-kilter.

Oh man I got this.
Like @Mrs.KMM we tried the forehead kiss. After like 6 attempts, this is what we got:
We suck at the dip:
Also, I love this one but it surprisingly took forever to coordinate. Abbey Road: Bridal Edition

Oh this is an easy one too!
LIFTS! Not quite dirty dancing style (not at all really, lol), but this was definitely awkward, but thankfully (I don’t think) doesn’t look awkward and was worth every awful attempt it took to get this!

@iarebridezilla: LOL. It did turn out lovely, though!
Here’s our awkward photo:
It was awkward because we went for our e-photos early in the morning after staying up late the night before, and I was exhausted. I got dressed and put on some tight jeans that always look funny if I’m not wearing a thong, but I couldn’t find any thongs and decided I was too lazy to look for one… So I went commando. It was only later when I changed into this dress that I realized we had a problem. Then Darling Husband told me to hop onto his back, and I didn’t remember until I was halfway in the air that it could end badly. I was trying so hard not to flash the photographers here.

@misspeanut: hahahaha we also SUCKED at the dip. The photographers gave up on that so fast it was like it never even came up in conversation! They look so great when they turn out … IF they turn out
Our forehead kiss attempt was also a train wreck, because with my shoes on I was nearly the same height as Darling Husband. Yeah, that picture looks cute when the groom is much higher than the bride, turning his head down … so I tried squatting. Haven’t gotten that one back yet, but my expectations are low!

@iarebridezilla: lol. Our dip photos felt fairly good, but I don’t really like any of them. Sad.

@GreenEyedMoon: hahaha the whole time I’d be thinking “I hope I don’t leave a snail trail on the back of his jacket … that would really be embarrassing.”
The dip was simply beyond our capabilities. But that’s okay — we can’t be good at everything

@iarebridezilla: That thought also crossed my mind. Ugh. Fortunately, the back of his suit never saw the cameras, so it wouldn’t have been the end of the world.

Definitely this one. Poor hubby was having such a hard time keeping me up. His arms started shaking lol. It was very uncomfortable and we had this strained look on our face.

Haha, this photo hands down was the most awkward to pose:
I had shown my photographer a photo I’d found online where swirls were drawn around the couple with what I assumed had been a sparkler. Well, we forgot a sparkler, but he still wanted to try the shot with a light he had. It was so awkward because we had to stand perfectly still, faces frozen, for a good minute while he ran circles around us with this light. Then, after our eyes were good and adjusted to the darkness outside, he took the photo and the flash was SO BRIGHT. At one point someone got in their car nearby and turned their headlights on, other times it was hard to stand still, so we had to do multiple takes. I think the awkwardness shows in our faces lol! But the effect is cool I guess.

we got married at a country club and we went into the president’s lounge for a few pics. (it was vacant). they had a grand piano in there so the photographer wanted me to lie down on the piano. i was so nervous about scratching it or someone coming in and giving us crap for being on it. i felt very uneasy. not to mention, it was sooo hard. only a couple of those shots turned out.
