So the other day we were looking up something on his phone and one of the articles had an add for engagement rings and another ad for coffee makers he had researched a lot before buying. I know our phones track our history and cater ads to those preferences. I feel like it’s coming soon and now this just puts icing on my suspicious and eager cake. Thoughts? Anyone else experience this?

I googled bridesmaid dresses all day long yesterday and now that is the ONLY ads popping up on my computer and phone on every website haha so there is a very good chance that he has been researching rings!!

Generally with the exception of here which also features the Rolo cruises (which I’ve NEVER looked at). The ads are ones which I’ve googled so I’m guessing at the very least your SO has been on a few sites 🙂 good luck!

Not to be a party 💩er, but could it be that the ads are showing up because your device and his phone share the same IP address (if you’re using the same WiFi) and are actually catered to your preferences?
I’m wondering if things he might be interested in have ever showed up on your device, or if other things you’re interested in have ever shown up on his.
But if not, then I think it’s a good sign (unless he’s searching for terms like “not ready to propose yet what to do”). Haha!
Hopefully he’s actually searching for an engagement ring though. Let us know the good news if your suspicions end up correct! 😊

Could be, but ads are also sometimes shown based on other data gathered. For instance, if they think you are a 30 year old male, they will show you things that they are targeting at 30 year old males – eg. engagement rings.

slothbear : Good point! That may be a possibility but I haven’t seen anything he’s searched for on my phone like the coffee maker. He researched coffee makers for two weeks before buying one. I didn’t see any ads on my phone or computer for coffee makers but ever since I’ve seen random coffee maker ads on his phone. I know we’re getting married in 2018 because we’ve already discussed the timeline between marriage and kids. I’m hoping he won’t make me wait until later this year or the beginning of next year. The ring ads just added to my excitement.

As pp said, if you share wifi sometimes you can get ads for each other’s preferences. Happens to Dh and I occasionally.
