Well, I’ve been married a while and have a diamond ering, diamond wedding band, and a diamond anniversary band. I also believed that your wedding set had to be diamonds, you just didn’t question it. Last year I ran across a picture of a morganite ring and was instantly hooked…I had to have it. My husband bought it for our anniversary. I also fell in love with pink sapphire and he bought me one of those also. I was alternating wearing them on my right hand since I couldn’t decide which I like better. I know I probably sound spoiled here. I’ve packed away my diamonds altogether to pass to my daughter or if my son would like to give to his future wife if he decides. I wear the sapphire everyday because I knock my hands around a lot at my job. I wear the morganite all other times. My diamonds are beautiful and very good quality, but I never had anyone comment on them…they’re so common. It’s the sapphire and the morganite that gets the attention! Everywhere I go, someone will ask me what kind of stone is that, or comment on how beautiful my rings are. I like wearing something unique and different. I think it’s wonderful to see more couples choose colored gemstones for their engagement rings. Actually I do have a Aunt that has an opal engagement ring, which is about as soft a gemstone as you can get, she takes very good care of it by not wearing it around the house and it’s lasted over 30 years!
