Well today I am 7 weeks 4 days pregnant. The morning sickness started exactly on my 7 week mark. I haven’t been able to eat anything but crackers and ginger cookies. I feel so hungry. On top of it, I haven’t been taking my prenatal vitamins because they make me feel alot worse.
I haven’t actually thrown up. Only one episode of faucet-mouth. But I am nauseous all day long… and all night long.
Do you think that it’s terrible that I’m not taking the prenatal vitamin? I’m thinking about getting Flinstones vitamins or gummy vitamins, just to have something in my system. The big fish oil ones are killing me!

try the gummys! FOR SURE. all other prenatals that i tried before getting pregnant made me sick as can be. vitafusion gummies. i eat 2 and im good to go! they have an odd sugar coating to them that felt weird (im a texture freak) but it melts and i got over it. i dont think ill be able to find a prenatal easier than those! theyre at target etc. try them, hope your tummy gets better!
im getting picky with foods, but i have no sickness yet, im only 4w4d. not looking forward to that feeling!

I would try to get some sort of vitamin down, even if it’s just your folic acid. also – call your dr. you can get anti-nausia meds. My morning sickness started right arounf when yours did. I went to the hospital a week later cause I thought I was dehydrated. I’ve been taking the pills for 2 days now, and I feel normal again already!

I would try to switch to a prenatal that is an all-in-one with DHA included that is fish free. You can get them in gummies! My morning sickness was out of control when I was taking the ones with the big fish oil pill! It also helps me to take them right before bed with a small snack. You might go ahead and see if your doctor will prescribe you some anti-nausea medicine. Zofran was a lifesaver for me weeks 6-10! I’m sorry you’re feeling so bad!

I haven’t taken my vitamins since week 6. I can’t swallow them. I switched to a sublingual folic acid supplement until I can swallow the big guys again. I recommend doing the same… my doctor said that folic acid is the really important one.

PLEASE take your pre-natal (or figure out another way to do it). Folic acid is the biggie but the other vitamins will help too (since I’m assuming you’re not keeping a lot of food down).
Are you taking it with food? That was my big issue. I threw it up unless my stomach was totally full.
Also, try a different brand. I know some brands are nicer on your stomach than others.

Have you tried switching brands?? I don’t know if you have this brand in the States (or where ever you are) but ‘Pregnacare’ multivitamin makes me SO sick and ‘Sevenseas Pregnancy’ is fine!?? Its probably all in my head but it works for me! I hope you feel better soon (although called me twisted but I love a bit of MS, I find it reassuring!!)

Definitely the gummies. I take these because the non-gummies caused more nausea. I actually switched to generic brand (I prefer the CVS brand to the Target) but they are the same thing.

@travellingfool: plan on getting gummies when I run out of samples from my doctor. I compared prices to other over the counter prenatals and these are the best!
@kelly105: I feel you! 🙁 Nine weeks tomorrow and my sickness peaked from 7 weeks onwards. The most important things to keep down right now are fluids and some kind of folic acid supplement. Even adding up flintstones or something is better than nothing at all! Don’t worry about the fish oil mega pills, I haven’t taken mine in a while and my doctor says that’s fine as they’re not that important until later, anyway. At 7 weeks the most important thing to keep down is folic acid. Even foods high in that may be good, honey nut cheerios. stuff like that that is light and has been fortefied with folic acid.
If you’re struggling to keep fluids down, call your doctor! I wish I had asked for a prescription sooner. It’s helped me keep things down but the nausea is still there at times.
Take care of yourself and eat/drink what you can! Right now it’s only important you keep something down, even if that’s a french fry and a chicken nugget. Don’t push yourself too hard.

The gummies have a coating on them, just a heads up. I found it extremely disgusting and I could not take it after I started getting sick.
Have you tried taking your prenatals right before bed? I still have to do this now (almost 27 weeks), as they make me sick.
My doctors were not concerned if I couldn’t take my prenatals during the first trimester. They were much more worried about me staying hydrated and getting some food into my system. I was extremely sick though, and lost 18lbs. You can see about getting samples from the doctor for a folic acid supplement instead. Mine gave me this during the first trimester and said if I could take it a few days a week it’s better than not at all.
