Do you like oatmeal or granola bars?  My sister used to also eat a bunch of mashed potatoes… they were pretty filling.

I was lucky that the nausea wasn’t too bad for me but I did find that starchy things like baked potatoes, pretzels, and toast seemed to settle my stomach and were really the only things I craved for a few weeks. I also drank peppermint tea and that seemed to help. The other thing that worked was jolly ranchers- I think the sweet/sour combo helped with queasiness. Good luck and congrats!

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been my go to when I’m feeling sick. And grilled cheese and tomato soup. I just munch on fruit or pretzels during the day to keep food in my tummy, so I don’t feel so sick. Just eat whatever you can, whenever you can! Hang in there. 🙂

I’ve found that citrus helps calm my stomach. I eat a fresh mandarin almost every day, and drink watered down grapefruit juice. As for more solid food, I mostly eat carbs and eggs. Toast with butter is what I eat when I can’t manage anything else. Like a pp mentioned, I’ve also lost 10 lbs in the first trimester (I’m almost 11 weeks now). I really hope the second trimester is as wonderful as everyone keeps telling me it is!

The first trimestser was really hard for me with vomiting.  Some days were good some days I would be vomiting 10+ times a day. 

Some things that I could usually keep down

– toast

– milk

– frozen fruit (something about the cold.  It was wonderful)

– Salad or veggies

 

Things that would make me sick:

– anything citrus

– meat of any form

– gingerale (the carbonation upset my stomach)

I also lost weight.  I am at 21 weeks now and have only gained 1.5 pounds.  I am happy to say that my morning sickness slowly tapered off around 12-13 weeks.

My gynae mentioned that is it normal for girls to lose weight during the first trimester due to morning sickness so not to worry. I was told that dry food such as biscuits and breads would not trigger morning sickness that easily. 

During my first trimester, I couldn’t stomach any fish at all; the smell was a major turnoff~! Just try to eat whatever you can, and I guess milk would be a very good source of nutrients for you and your baby.

I am at my 26 weeks now, and I gained about 7kg till date. Lucky for me, it seems like the extra weight went to the stomach and boobs instead of my arms or thighs.
