So I’m trying to get back into working out after a few failed attempts :p I feel like I’d do better if I could get a workout done and over with in the morning as I’m always exhausted after work.
Any advice? How do you get yourself out of bed and motivated to work out so early?! I’d have to get up at about 5:30am to comfortably fit in a workout, shower and eat breakfast.
What kind of workout do you do in the morning, how long is it?

It sucks to get up but I LOVE early morning workouts. It seems like a silly trick but I will sleep in my workout clothes when I need to get up early. If you fail to wake up on time you feel a little guilty having to change out of the workout clothes you didn’t put to use!
i also make sure to eat something good before I go to help my energy like a banana or oatmeal. That helps to energize me.
Ultimately it’s a mental battle. If you get yourself excited about the morning workout rather than bummed about it it will make a big difference.

I have all my clothes laid out the night before so that it doesn’t take me too long to get ready in the morning. Now it’s a habit, so it’s not too difficult to do. My typical morning workout consists of 30 minutes on my elliptical in the basement. On the weekends, I try to run outside instead.

Hmm I may try the sleeping in the workout clothes idea!

_blackbird_: if I don’t workout in the am, I don’t workout.
I put my gym clothes next to my bed. Cue up a Jillian michaels HIIT workout while I make coffee. Chug a cup and hit it hard for 25 min or so.
Immediately after stretching I take a shower and throw my recovery shake into my bag and book it to work. I only need an extra 30 min into my am routine which is doable.

I wish I had the discipline to get up 30 mins early. I barely get up 15 miniutes before going to work.

I’ve started working out in the morning the past few mornings. I wake up at 4:45, drink a cup of coffee, work out for 30 min, and then shower and get ready for work. It’s tough and all mental. You feel so much better getting it done and out of the way though. I do 21 day fix and T25 videos. I don’t think I could get up and actually drive to a gym that early.

FutureMrsBex: yeah there’s no way I’m making it to a gym, home workouts all the way.

_blackbird_: I will only do it if I can do it outside. I will do a walk/jog combo in the nice months. I’m lured by the sun & bright sky, it’s the only thing that motivates me to make time in the morning. So it only works on nice days. I will also do some pilates in the living room but not a whole routine.
I don’t think I’ll ever be motivated to go down in the basement to ride a treadmill first thing in the morning, or get dressed & go to a class.

I despise working out at home, so it’s either a run or the gym for me! I usually get up at 5:15 and leave by 5:30. A friend and I have been getting up at this time for almost two years consistently and I wouldn’t do it without her! if she is away, sick, etc. I stay in bed haha! A buddy is definitely the way to stay motivated and accountable!

I try to workout in the morning because it is so much harder at night, but my schedule changes every day so sometimes it just doesn’t happen. But when it does, it’s the same as PP. Coffee chug, an hour of ballet, 15 min stretch and shower!
I often end up working out at 11 pm or 4 am. Ugh. But it feels good after:-) I toss in a 10 min HIIT wo and light weights at night three times a week.

I want to work out in the mornings (versus evenings) so bad, but I just cannot talk myself into waking up at 5am or so! I’m lucky I get up for work honestly haha.

You ladies are so motivated! 🙂 I wish I’m more like you all.
I feel like I’m constantly tired so waking up so early seems super difficult haha. A bit off topic, for those who wake up at 5am to work out, what time do you sleep at night?

I pack everything (clothes, gym bag, lunch etc.) the night before. Once I get up I just don’t let myself stop moving. If I stop and think about it, it makes me want to go back to bed. The hardest part is getting out the door, after that it’s ok. I also sometimes organise a cycle class/ weights date with a friend. Morning workouts suck balls at 5.30am but it’s so awesome knowing that I can just go straight home after work.
mus1ca1xo: I go to bed about 9.30. The nice thing about working out is that I’m so tired I sleep really, really well

I put my phone/alarm far enough from my bed where I have to actually get out of bed to turn it off. For me actually getting out of bed is the hardest part so once I’m up I’m up!
