Hi all – if you got married or explored getting married at Morris Arboretum, I have some questions.
-Which of their preferred caterers did you go with, and what did the pricing look like?
-Did the preferred caterers provided alcohol or was it BYO?
I’m contacting all the caterers but hoping to get some on the ground knowledge too 🙂 Anything you could share would be greatly appreciated. I’m working on a tight budget but also in love with this venue and trying to make it work. Thank you all!

I was married there! The venue is AMAZING! So so pretty 🙂 MY choice of caterer though was terrible. Whatever you do, DO NOT go with Carl Bruno Catering. They were an absolute nightmare, and here we are years later and I still get mad when I think about it. John was great in the planning stages, but the execution was an absolute nightmare and downright embarrassing. We paid for family style and ordered extra food. Its a family run business and I thin kthere may be some theft occuring. We had guests tell us later that for a table of 8 people, the servers brought out 2 regular dinner sized plates of food, one with about 4 raviolis on it and the other with 3 chicken breasts….FOR 8 PEOPLE!! Our guests were literally starving and we paid almost 10 grand for catering. There were sooo many things tht went wrong with this caterer.
Im not sure about the other caters, but all I can say is hard pass on Bruno Catering.
Please dont let that deter you from the venue though! The site was aboslutely gorgeous! If you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I’m happy to share my experience!! 🙂
PS congrats on your engagement!!

Ahh I didnt answer your question about alchohol. Bruno didnt have a liquour liscense, so we had to provide all the alchohol, but they served it. That was actually cheaper tho. We served 2 types of wine, 2 types of beer, and did a signature coctail drink.
SO yeah, we paid about 10K not including alchohol for about 110 people.

Wow bee! What happened after? Did you get your money back?

we got some of our money back after I scheduled a sit down with the owner, John, but he refused to budge much, saying that “you’re wedding day isn’t what makes a marriage” and saying that his family served the food, so there was no way my story could be true *insert intense eye roll *. We would have had to take it to small claims court and it was his word against mine, so we had to let it go. I did lodge a complaint with Morris tho to let them know of the horrible experience we had with their “preferred” vender.

Thank you so much! This was so helpful! If I do go with Morris I will definitely avoid this caterer! I’m going to look at Morris today and can’t wait!!
