OK so I am a little over 5-weeks out from closing and I’m being (what I feel) screwed around by my mortgage company .
I want to change lenders. Nothing is set in stone yet with the current company but I feel they’re Jenkins me around by losing paperwork , mis-communicating emails , digging into bank history that I feel they shouldn’t have to , etc.
I’m going fha so I know there’s more paperwork and more headaches, but I think they’re literally trying to get me mad enough to drop them.
Has anyone ever switched mortgage loan companies like this? How’d it go ? Any recommendations ?

Sounds normal to me! Getting a mortgage sucks like that – right up until they hand you the keys.

bippidyboppidyboo : I’ve gone through the process 3 times and yes, the lender makes a huge difference in my experience. My most recent home purchase I started out with large online lender and oh my god it was so painful. I was always talking to different people, had to send the same documents over and over. Then I got a recommendation from a friend with a specific person at a large bank and it was a breeze! Obviously still lots of paperwork but that’s expected.

Digging through bank history is expected. When we were getting our mortgage, I had our down payment saved up in one of those “online only” accounts, so in order to access the funds it needs to transfer to a checking account which takes 2-3 days. When we were putting down the deposit $$, I transferred it over in exact amounts (ie wrote a check for $16,000, transferred $16,000 from online account to checking) – and they still were very questioning.
I suppose some companies may be more professional or more responsive, but I also found that they wreen’t always the best at communicating clearly what they needed, felt I was making the same copies of documents several times… part of all of this process is just dealing with some headaches.
