has anyone scattered moss around the banquet tables as part of their decorations?
I’m just wondering if people feel like it’s unsafe/dirty to eat around moss?
My fiance and I want to scatter moss on top of our burlap runner to give it a natural effect..but I worry that guests might not eatint around it.
also, if I store moss for a long time, should I worry about bugs or anything?
PS: if you have any tips on getting large quantities of moss in Vancouver (BC), let me know 🙂

do a google image search for “moss ball centerpiece” and you will get tons of good photos.
here’s a different one that uses moss (not moss balls): http://www.petdogonline.net/uploads/science-bottles-billy-yellow-moss-wedding-centerpieces2.jpg
I’ve seen tons of these centerpieces, and they are so pretty! I love them. I’m sure your guests will not be weird about eating near it as long as it’s relatively clean looking. get it from a florist. if you pick it up off the forest floor, then you might have to worry about bugs!

I wouldn’t dislike eating dinner with moss on the table. Sounds really pretty.

@janie-janie: yeah that’s what I was afraid of…I found a few “free moss” posts on craigslist but I think they picked it up off wherever so I was afraid to collect them..
@rebepa3: oo I shall try getting them off ebay! Thanks for the great suggestion! I always forget ebay!

What do you call large quantities?
There is a US company that ships to Canada: http://www.mossacres.com/
You can also get any florist or garden center to order it for you.

@julies1949: yeah I’m actually not completely sure how much I need because I don’t know what 12oz is or 1lb is…I have 7 long tables (150″) and 5 round tables…

We had our florist use moss tucked here and there on wood slices my fiance cut from a dead tree in our backyard. And we put lanterns on them and angelvine branching. No one minded! It wouldn’t bother me at all. Their food is on plates, so don’t worry about it.
