Seriously I’m going to loose it. I’m a pretty tolerant person but I feel like I’m being recorded for some sort of prank show. How is it possible that ONE person can have so many annoying habits? Worse yet, this is my officemate so I can’t get away from him.
1) Chewing LOUDLY: We’re talking constant lip smacking ans slurping.
2) Burping: At least 5-8 times PER hour minimum (Probably due to all the air he sucks in when chewing so loudly).
3) Lack of shoes: He takes off his shoes and walks around the office AND goes to the restroom in socks (Dude, this is not your house)
3b) Standing at his desk (this isn’t annoying so much as weird): His computer is propped up on a bunch of boxes so he can stand all day (says sitting shortens your life span – news to him, so does pissing me off).
4) Cooking in the office kitchen: Not heating up left overs but making onions and brussel sprouts (I kid you not) in an electric skillet. The ENTIRE office will stink all afternoon.
Go ahead, I dare you to do better…got an annoying coworker?

@camrie: oh dear!!
I thought maybe we had the saem co-worked when i first started reading. Mine is female though and burps loudly and chew obnoxiously…i realized yours is a male though and MUCH worse…the sock thing would drive me nuts..and cooking random stinky crap is wrong at work!!

I worked with a guy once who walked around barefoot and sat and picked his feet at the conference table in our conference room. Once he was in the hallway barefoot and saw a roach and screamed and I told him if he wore shoes in the office, he could have stepped on it without being scared. He was pretty bad.

Ew, the no shoes thing is the grossest. Especially in the bathroom….yuck yuck yuck
Ummm at my old company we had to move a womans desk to the other side of the work area, because she passed gas too often and it was literally making people gag. That was a fun conversation. to have.

i used to sit next to a lip smackin’, loud chewing (she had like nerds or something in a giant water bottle that she’d guzzle and chew), lollipop SUCKING, constantly farting/sharting, Too Much Information diarrhea story telling, no shoes wearing, religious dogma spouting, wall-eyed woman. she’s in the office next to me now (and I DIE at our branch meetings), but I’m so glad she’s not next to me anymore!!!

@camrie: YES I sit next to the worst! She talks allllll day even when I dont want to talk. She is constantly talking about her allergic reactions to things and how it makes her face swell up. Then 2 days ago she comes in and says “want to see a picture” but I didnt have a chance to answer before she pulled out a picture of her disgusting face all puffed up and it was soo gross. She spends hours on the phone with her husband talking in baby talk and having the most pointeless conversations – as in like “what should we have for dinner” for an hour. She is constantly complaining about how she gains weight but then she orders huge Italian meals for lunch and always talks about eating out. She also pawns work off onto other people and doesnt get why other people are upset about it. She is also the most self centered person EVER. For example – after I came back from my wedding she didnt even say “congratulations” or “how did it go” NO instead she said nothing then the next day brought in THREE albums full of her own wedding pictures (her wedding was in October 2009) and proceeds to shove them in my face then make me look through them and point out every single thing to me. UGH

Oh and I just wanted to say that standing while you are working is much much better for you. They actually make standing desks because ergonomically it is horrible for us to be sitting at a computer all day!

I used to work with someone who would take of their shoes and sit at their desk picking at their nasty feet all day long, makes me sick just remembering it!
Another person was the loudest chewer and crunched on ice all day.
A third person who I shared a cubicle wall with was on the phone ALL day screaming at either her husband, kids, mom, or Mother-In-Law. She was such drama.
Anyway, I feel your pain…

Hahaha! “Wanna see a picture?” Not right.
The OTHER thing is his wife is totally into eating organic food or no refined sugars or no purple foods or whatever (again with the longer life-span thing) – which is cool. But he comes in a spouts to everyone unsolicited about how certain foods are bad and how standing is better for you (which I know isn’t totally crazy). THEN he goes and gets fast food every other day for lunch. So that’s why it annoys me because it’s more like he does it for attention rather than because he believes it.

The no shoes thing is gross. Socks absorb things, so you know he is walking in pee all day. Nasty nasty nasty!

i am so guilty of taking my shoes off at work 🙁 i actually dont have them on as we speak- i tend to sit indian style in my seat – plus they are birkenstocks and slip on and off – ok now im just making excuses…
BUT i never leave my cubicle without them on and i def have shoes on when going to the bathroom.
