Paper lanterns are cheap and can look really festive / classy (depending on what you’re going for), and obviously you can customize them to your colors. I’ve seen them online for $0.80 – $2 each depending on size.

first of all if you have 17$ you should pick up a book called bridal bargains by denise and alan fields. Soooo many great saving tips there. how far away is your wedding? Thinking outside the box is best. look for DIY projects online and stick to your budget. There are soooo many ways you can save money. I find favors are a waste unless you find one people will use. a couple bottles of wine on a table could be a favor for your guests. centrepieces make a beautiful look. You could also consider using food as a centrepiece (ex. edible arrangements/ fancy cut fruit trays). Finding decorations at yard sales. Instead of doing chair covers you can maybe get ribbon for a great price and just tie large bows on the back of every chair. Soooo many things you can find to creat nicer/ cheaper things to make your wedding look beautiful. Figure out a theme and colours first though.
