I’m really moved by the readings we have chosen (specifically “the Union”), that we’re writing our own vows, and the sealing of the wine/love letter box during the ceremony.

From other weddings… I adored a wedding I went to in Key West where they had the bride’s son included in his own little set of vows. It was so moving to see the celebration of the whole family.

I’m looking forward to our handfasting. This isn’t just about us becoming a family of our own, but joining into each others families. My parents and his grandparents will do the wraps around our hands. Something special that isn’t a guarantee yet… but I’d really like to wear the penny in my shoe that my mom wore on her wedding day 36days years ago. I really want her to offer it, so we’ll see as it gets closer to time. We’re very family orintated and it’s very important to us that we include our family on our special day.

From another wedding: the vows the couple wrote. It made me want to cry as they recounted their times together and shared their dreams for the future.

My grandmother gave me her baptism ring as a graduation gift 3 years ago…I will be wearing that around my neck for my “something old.”  She also offered up her wedding cake topper from 1946…which REALLY meant a lot.  None of her daughters or other granddaughters had this honor, and it is very special to me!

My engagement ring and our wedding rings- my Fiance gave me his mother’s engagement ring (she passed away three years ago) and I absolutely adore it and I know that it means so much to him.

Also, instead of using a plain gold band or a ring with diamonds or any stones, we’re getting recycled bands (mine silver, his titanium) inscribed with our own special way of saying I love you 🙂

I cannot wait!

OMG MrsJellybean I’m doing the handfasting ceremony also. I have yet to meet anyone who has done. going to do it or even heard of it. Thats amazing!!!

My favorite thing that will be happening at my wedding is that my something borrowed is the same pearl necklace that my grandmother wore when she married my grandfather…. *sigh*

From another wedding was the bridal cup ceremony. It’s a german tradition, that has the bride and groom drinking from a specially made cup at the same time without spilling a drop.
