I went to a wedding in Normandy recently and as a pallet cleanser they served the most delicious apple sorbet with Calvados brandy poured over it.  The sorbet had little chunks of apple in it.  it was unique to that region of France and so delicious.

I had a warm apple and pumpkin soup with little chunks of apple and roasted garlic in this cute little shot glass. I literally hunted down the server carrying that tray. Several times.

@Meowkers:  Yum, this was the inspiration for our palette cleanser. We are doing a raspberry sorbet with a few fresh raspberries and brandy. We had the apple one at a French restaurant after we were engaged and our dinner will reflect that dinner. This got me so excited.

Most unique- um, not in a good way but this really “unique” pressed chicken….no way it was real chicken.

@Meowkers:  You always have the most glamourous stories!  Looks delicious.

I have not have very unique food at the weddings I’ve been to, unfortunately.  I’m interested to see what others have had!

@ohulani:  most unique…mmmm, there was a soup once and no one could work out what is was! “its kind of like sweetcorn soup?” “nah, it tastes a bit fishy to me” “really? im not sure”. we debated it for about 20 minutes. turns out it was some kind of seafood soup, but there cant have been much seafood in it, as to most people it tasted like a slightly odd vegetable soup!

Not much help here.  I’ve been to a dozens of weddings and some food was great, some food was bad…but I have to say, none that were that different or unique.

I went to one that had a make your own donut bar (tons and tons of toppings you could put on the donut of your choice), then for dinner they had a make-your-own hot dog bar.  It was quite tasty.

I went to an Indian wedding were all the grandma’s, aunts and mum’s in the family had made all the food from recipes passed down for generations. The food was absolutely amazing! Low budget but really made with love and soooo tasty. Funnily enough. Went to another Indian wedding at a hotel the following year were they had pulled out all the stoppes and it wasn’t half as good.
