@greenidlady:  It depends on how much the dress cost originally!

@dsanchez:  I agree! I think the dress would have to be at least 40% off for me to consider it.

Sometimes I see postings on preowned sites that are asking for 90% of the original price – for used dresses! No thanks.

@somethingaquamarine:  Yeah I am with you on that, 40% off seems about right! No one wants to buy used at almost full price! I will try and sell my dress after I get married and I will probably try and sell it between 40-50% off!

@somethingaquamarine:  I know! I was surprised to discover this, too. I thought, “Wow! You purchased and wore a brand new, amazing, super-expensive, high-end, designer gown made just for you, but then you expect the person to whom you sell the dress to pay 70, 80 or even 90 percent of the total cost — for a dress that’s already been worn and altered to fit another bride?” However, I guess some people in the market for a pre-owned dress must think it’s worth it, or people wouldn’t be able to sell the gowns under those conditions. The laws of supply and demand set the price.

@greenidlady:  I think of it in terms of what I would pay for it, so I am probably going to post at 55% of the original price, and then allow to get talked down 🙂 cuz i feel thats how used items normally go!

@greenidlady:  It is! Microeconomics was one of my favorite classes in college. 🙂

I think I might be willing to spend more than 40% off if it was only worn for a ceremony or something. Some brides wear it just for an hour and pictures so there is no food/dancing, etc.

It depends on original price, so percentage wise I’d say 60%? But I have never really looked at pre-owned so I don’t know.

Yeah it depends on the dress. For example, my dress was 900.00 full price. If I were to get it preowned, it would have to be 400.00 or less to make it worth it to me.
