Getting married in Vegas on a whim and they aren’t able to order a “wedding dress” in time, so I tried on this Mother of the Bride dress. It’s a light gray which is fine with me because I don’t look right in white dresses. I just feel mixed feelings because it’s not an actual “wedding dress” However, does it look like a wedding dress? Also, does anyone know if a seamstress will be able to cut off the sleeves?

I would keep looking honestly. That dress doesn’t do anything for your figure and I’m sure you can find another dress that will show off your curves in a beautiful way. Good luck!

It could pass for a wedding dress style-wise, but I don’t love that the skirt starts so low? I might keep looking.

A wedding dress is the one you get married in. So yes, a mother of the bride dress would be great. Especially for Vegas. And I like the dress you have on, but it does not flatter your figure at all. I’d keep looking. If you bought it, I’d try returning and if you can’t return I’d see a seamstress.
Try a dress that nips in at your waist instead of a drop waist. A line might be more flattering. A lot of wedding dress shops have off the rack items you can take home.

1) wear whatever you feel best in, even if it’s not white or a wedding dress
2) that dress does absolutely nothing for your figure. I would try on some more dresses in different styles before committing.

If you need a dress quickly, try Adrianna Papell – available at most department stores, amazon, and also through their own website. Lots of evening dresses that would work as a wedding dress!

Agree with PPs. You can do so much better. Do you have a Nordstrom’s near you?

Where are you located? Bhldn has wedding dresses that ship within 2 weeks

So sorry OP but I have to agree with pps, that dress is doing nothing for you. I appreciate that it was not fitted to you properly so that the waist is hanging unnaturally low , but even if it was, that dress is not ‘your’ shape . You have a good waist and beautiful shoulders and a good bosom on you , so that rather saggy skirt is not the way to go to my mind.
Cutting off the sleeves might be possible though I’m not sure how well it would stay up without them? If you want a strapless dress , there are many about.
That it is designated as a MOB dress doesn’t matter at all. As a pp says , what the bride wears is by definition her wedding dress. That one though, is a tad matronly..
Hope to see you back with another one , better suited to you !

This dress does nothing for you. Please keep looking.

Any dress can be a wedding dress so I wouldn’t get so hung up about the labeling!
However, I agree with the other posters and think you should pass on this one and keep looking, particularly as you want to get this one altered anyway. It gives you a really weird shape and another dress would be so much more flattering.

Any dress can be a wedding dress, but I am not a fan of the skirt on this one. The top is so structured and then it just sort of melts into nothing at the skirt. If it were me, I would pick a different dress. You can look at other MOB dresses, but there are also off the rack wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and wedding dress samples to choose from. You might be able to call around bridal shops and see if anyone is willing to part with a sample dress in your size. Also, second hand dresses are a really great option. You can look online for a second hand dress and possibly get a good deal on price too. Just keep in mind that you would need to measure yourself by the designer’s size chart because some of them are really wonky. I don’t think you need to settle for a dress that doesn’t make your heart sing just because of time constraints. (That said, if you decide this one is the one that does, ignore all our opinions and rock it!)
