I am having a hard time deciding on my mother of the bride dress for my daughter’s late October wedding. It will be formal so my daughter wants it to be long…I am not crazy about the typical MOB dresses and abhor beads and sequins. With that said, this has beads around the waist that could be taken off…I am worried it is too revealing. I do like the softness of the fabric, the drape, etc. I am not crazy about the bolero but do want a cover-up….
Think this might look too bridesmaidy….but love the jacket…I would make the sleeves long.

I love love LOVE the first one! It’s so pretty and it looks comfortable, too! I think the second one does look a little too “bridesmaids-y”, but if you prefer it, go for it! 🙂 What color are you looking for? What other factors are you looking for in a MOB dress? Perhaps we can help you find some more options! 🙂

Love the style. With the jacket, it’s perfect for MOB.

First one is beautiful!
I actually like both, but the first one is my favorite.

I think they’re both stunning. You have excellent taste. I like the first one better, though.

I like the first one better out of the two, but neither seem appropriate for a mother of the bride, both seem like bridesmaid dresses to me. But if your daughter’s wedding is more black tie than either would be suitable 🙂

Definitely the first one.

I love the second one not so much the first one. The first one just looks very typical MOB to me.

I prefer the first one. I don’t like that jacket-thing on the second one.

I need to lose a few pounds and my tummy is my concern…I am 5’4″ and look better generally in tailored dresses. My daughter’s colors are undecided but will either be black, navy, or grey. I found this great dress that is flattering because of the ruffle going down the front from top to bottom but it is a halter and I think I would love it if there was away to attach a sheer something to it. Everything I find I want to remake in some way. I thought about getting it in a grey color but upon further thought it was a striking dress in black and I am not sure it would look as nice in a different color. For the life of me, I cannot find a photo of it.
I have looked at everything! Nothing is hitting me as the right one.

I also want something that is comfortable – not something I am worried about falling out of….want to be able to dance!!!

@cagirlinva: As a MOB to be, I like the first one. It is softer looking. I think the beading on the waist looks great, it doesn’t stand out or sparkle. The dress probably needs it.
The second one looks too structured, and the stand-up collar is a bit too much.
Either way I am sure you will look great, because you will be happy:)

My mother wore one very similar to the first one and it looks beautiful on her. The material was the same and it was very soft and flowy.

the first one is stunning, i love the softness and sheer jacket , really pretty

If I could take the first dress and pair it with a softer version of the second jacket, I think I would be really pleased. I don’t like the dress on the second but I do happen to like the ruffles and the uniqueness of the bolero.
I am thinking of pairing the second jacket with this dress…
I have checked and the skirt on this is the same fabric as the ruffled jacket. I would change the sleeves to be bell and longer….
