Perhaps you wil be able to help.
My son is getting married in September, he is natural blue eyed blond as is his father,
so is the bride (with some help), her mother and sister are natural redheads. The
colours for the wedding are ivory, champagne, mocha and gold, Groom, best man and fathers are all waring brown morningsuits with ivory waistcoats, bridesmaid is wearing
chocolate brown with champagne, Bridesmother similar( also brides mother is much younger than me). My problem I never wear any of the above, colours, I am very fair skinned with dark hair and green eyes, (a cool winter in fact). What colours might I get away with, cannot wear either of two I look best in Black or red.
Had thought of soft grey dress/coat with gold/cream shoes and bag. White gold earrings etc

Go with your first instinct.

Ask the bride what she would like you to wear or if grey is okay. She may not want you to depart from the color scheme, or she may not care.

I am a recent MOB. My daughter’s colors were burgundy, gold and a mossy green. BMs were in burgundy. MOG, was not able to attend. She lives in South America and was denied a visa to come to the wedding. I wore navy blue.
The MOB and MOG do not have to match the color scheme of the wedding and do not have to coordinate their outfit colors. That thinking is a little outdated, although some brides still want the mothers to coordinate or match the color theme.
In my opinion, black might be a better choice. Red might make you stand out a little too much considering the wedding colors are understated. I chose navy because I like the color and the color looked good on me. I stayed away from pastels since my daughter’s wedding colors were deeper and more saturated.
All in all, what matters most is that you choose a dress you love in a color that looks good on you. Have fun dress shopping!
