The venue I want to go with has a maximum capacity for the ceremony (fire regulations and what not) infact most venues will have this. So no to me someone just turning up to watch the ceremony uninvited isn’t a thing. I’m inviting maximum capacity to my wedding ceremony so there’s isn’t space for people who just want to turn up and watch. I also think it’s super rude to think you can do something like that. Who thinks “oh I haven’t been invited to this wedding, I’ll just get all dressed up and go anyway?”

I think I’m gonna just start attending beach weddings for the hell of it if this is a new trend. Public space = free for all ceremony!

I’m strictly on the side of “this is not okay.” It would be one thing if it were in a church w/the express invite/announcement to the congregation, but this is completely different. Your mother should absolutely not attend without an invitation.
