I do not have a relationship with my father and my brother will be walking me down the isle. I wanted to show my mom how much I love her and to thank her for all that she has done fo rme. Would it be wierd to have a dance with her?

We did a mothers dance at our wedding. I don’t have a relationship with my biological father and my step dad walked me down the aisle so I wanted to honor my mom in some way. While DH and his mom danced, so did my mom and I. I think everyone really liked it because they all knew that my bio dad wasn’t in the picture and they didn’t have to suffer through multiple parent dances.

I don’t think it would be weird at all! I seriously considered it, but I did dance with my dad and didn’t want too many special dances…really I was just looking for a spot to throw in a song I would of loved to use for her, but oh well. But in your situation I totally think it would work.

@mar0801: not at all! my dad actually passed away and i will be walking myself down the aisle. my fiancee and i though for the reception are doing a “mother daughter dance” and my fiancee will do a dance with his mom. the song me and my mom will be dancing to is Carrie Underwood’s Mama’s Song which is lovely and fits really well for a mother daughter moment 🙂
