It was just me and my mom for all of my childhood. My dad was around but never really a dad. He will be at the wedding. However my mom is giving me away and I want her to have the honor of first dance besides FH.
I need help brainstorming for songs! All the websites offer are really old not really appealing. I love Carrie Underwood’s Mama but I am sure by the time our wedding roles around it will be out of control.
Anyone else do a mom/daughter dance?

- Wedding: October 2011 - Bed & Breakfast
We are using Mama’s Song because my mom loves it. The first time she heard it, she called me up to tell me there was a new song that spoke to exactly how she feels about Mr. LK and I. I knew at that moment that it was the song she and I would dance to.
Maybe “My Girl” or “I Hope You Dance” or “What a Wonderful World” could work?

My mom said she loves Carrie Underwood’s song. Is there anything else out there close to it?
What about the runner up for American Idol, does anyone remember her name or the song she sang?

Lauren Alaina-Like My Mother Does…that’s the song from American Idol (:
My mom requested a Mother/Daughter dance. I think I’m going with Backstreet Boys-The Perfect Fan!

“In My Daughter’s Eyes” by Martina McBride is an amazingly beautiful song.

@burnjj06: Thank you! Also what a great choice. 🙂 My mom took me to the BSB concert in middle school and that song would make me cry every time I heard it afterwards. How great

Hi, MsBryt (interesting enough, Miss Bryt is my lifelong nickname =P)
I like the BSB song!
My mom and I are dancing to “If tomorrow never comes” by Garth Brooks. Apparently this song came out when I was young and my mom told that it’s “our song”.
I’ll be or You’re gonna be- Reba McEntire
Isn’t she lovely- Stevie Wonder
Wind beneath my wings- Bette Midler
I’ll be there- Mariah Carey
My little girl- Tim McGraw (sung from a father’s perspective but my mom dedicates this to me on the radio all the time)
Mama- Boyz II Men
Mama- Spice Girls
You raise me up- Josh Grobin
I turn to you- Christina Aguilera
I cross my heart- George Strait
I loved her first- Heartland (?) It is a country song, also sung from a father’s POV, but can apply to your situation
Three times a lady- The Commodores
Somebody’s Hero- Jamie O’ Neal
There are so many more but I can’t remember them at the moment. I will let you know more when I remember.

@Winterbride011: Thank you! You’re great. I like the idea your mom already knew. That is too sweet.
Super cool too you and I spell Bryt the same. 🙂 My fiance gave me that spelling the first time we went out. I’ve kept it ever since and the family caught on pretty quickly.
I will check these out tonight and I’ll let you know which ones I send to mom and hopefully she’ll pick soon. I’ll keep you updated if she does. Thank you again! This looked like a great list.

I so want to do a mother daughter dance because my dad will not be at the wedding. I haven’t even told him I am getting married. My mom refused to walk me down the aisle and give me away, which was kind of upsetting to me, and so I am not sure how to approach a mother daughter dance with her…
But I would love to do the song “in my daighters eyes” or “because you loved me”

@Miss. Snowball: oh no! Maybe just take her out one evening (if that is something you guys usually do) and let her know how important it is to you before you ask if she will particpate?
