Sansa85 :  Same. Happy mother’s day Sansa! So happy that you broke the cycle for your daughter. I won’t be spending the day with my toxic mother but do have other moms I was blessed with. 💗

Sansa85 :

My mother was monstrous, too.  She’s no longer on the planet.

She actually improved a bit after my awful “father” died.

I’ll be spending the day with Dh and the pups; my darling babies.  So happy to have Jada with us now.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Mommy Bees, whether your children be of the two or four footed kind! 🥳

Happy Mother’s Day to you and all the Mom Bees!!

I am enjoying celebrating with my Fiance, my kids, stepkids and Future Mother-In-Law. Not sure if I will hear from my mom. C’est la vie. We shape our lives around the people we love and who love us back.

Sansa85 :  I remember reading this post this morning and hoping I wouldn’t have to respond to this.

But nope, didn’t work. Just more of the same. Complaining, political debates, finger pointing, emotions running high, brother blaming mom for her poor choices (which he’s totally right about but picked the worst possible day), cue mom’s victim monologue for half an hour while brother blatantly ignored her, then gift opening, reading a nice BS card, and acting like nothing happened.

Sansa85 :  Luckily my boyfriend’s mom stepped in and invited me to a family gathering, so I’m stuffed full of homemade food surrounded by chubby little toddlers and my boyfriend’s family is so sweet and loving, it feels more like a family day here.

Sansa85 :  I don’t have kids yet but bf and I have agreed their exposure will be limited. My mom totally pulls the same shit, says really nice, loving things, posts photos of her gifts on social media saying how *she* raised amazing kids, claims our successes as her own but blames all our faults on our father, plays martyr when she’s  called out, etc. etc. etc. It doesn’t get me riled up but it’s disappointing and a waste of time, and just generally reminds me why I keep her at a distance.

I told her Boyfriend or Best Friend and I looked at rings and she quickly turned it to ‘I don’t want his mother pushing, etc. and influencing *my* daughter and making it about her’, then she was talking about how many vendors she knows and she will help plan and we can use her previous photographer and officiant, etc. *sigh*

I was hoping someone would post a thread like this. I still wish desperately for a relationship with my mom, but I’m realizing more and more that it just isn’t possible. She’s never going to be the mom I needed and I should have figured that out when I was 15. Also realizing it’s way past time to get some help for the giant pile of issues I have surrounding my mother.

Spent the day with my babies. Whom I have parented by asking myself “ what would my mom do?” then doing the opposite. *sigh*

Sansa85 :  thanks for posting! Today didn’t start off really well for me, especially after attending mass where the priest kept reminding us how we must appreciate our mothers bla bla bla… I was upset the whole day after that sermon, feeling guilty because I need to minimize the interaction with her so that i can stay sane and work on my huge mountain of issues due to my possibly borderline parent(s). It sucks to be reminded I’ll never have that relationship with my mother, she’s not going to be loving without conditions… Also mourning for the fact I probably will never be a mother since my SO doesn’t want children so yeah… Today is a bad day. I better sleep it off…
