Our wedding is coming up really fast, May 8! This is the day before Mother’s Day, so we want to do something to honor our mothers. Probably just a little shout-out at the reception about how much we love our mothers. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I don’t want to get too sentimental or make it too much, since it is a wedding and it’s not actually Mother’s Day. I just wanted to say something nice to surprise them….any thoughts??

I would give them a really heartfelt card the morning of the wedding to let them know how much they mean to you, etc.
A mini-shoutout at the reception would be cute too. Maybe dedicate a dance to the mothers in the room?

I like the idea of dedicating a dance to the mothers! I never thought of that! Good idea.

I’ve thought about honoring my and FI’s mothers as well at our wedding as well! One idea I had was to ensure that two flowers could be easily detached from my bouquet and after the vows, stopping first to give both of our mothers a single flower from the bouquet, maybe with a small note attached?
Or, if you’re doing a slideshow, perhaps it could begin with pictures of your mothers, honoring them? You could begin the “mother” slideshow, pause it, stand up and say a few words, toast your mothers as well as all the others in the room, then let the rest of the slide show play; I’m sure there wouldn’t be a dry eye in the house

I don’t have any suggestions – but you just made me realize that my wedding is the day before mother’s day next year!

@TealaB that’s funny. We didn’t realize either until after the date was set. Just one thing to consider, we had to finalize our flowers a week earlier than normal because the wedding is Mother’s Day weekend and that’s a big weekend for flower sales. Keep that in mind when you book your florist and set a timeline closer to the big day.
@gui40067 we are going to have a single rose presentation to our mothers during our ceremony, but I like the idea of maybe attaching a note. Unfortunately we aren’t having a slideshow, but that’s another great suggestion!

@ Miss Cheeky !!! Yay mine is May 9th so close!! We’re having a mother’s day brunch Sunday morning with mimosas. We are also having separate favors for all of the mothers to take in addition to the wedding favors. (It’s a candle that looks like a chocolate bonbon and smells like chocolatey goodness) I was also getting a bouquet that splits into two and give half to my mom, half to Future Mother-In-Law.
We were thinking about getting our mom’s these:
