So, my mother called me all excited the other day gushing about this great idea that she had. She asked me if I would wear her pearls on my wedding day – she thinks they would be gorgeous and all that.
Unfortunately, I truly am NOT a fan of pearl necklaces, especially when worn with a wedding dress. I donno – just doesnt do it for me. Plus, I hadnt wanted to wear a necklace, and was going to opt instead for small drop crystal earrings. There are crystals on my dress, and silver embroidery but no pearls.
I love my mother ( of course) and really dont want to offend her but I really dont want to wear them.
And oh yeah. Shes helping me pay for the wedding.
My hubby thinks I should just keep my mouth shut and wear the damn pearls.
What do you think, Bees???

I think you should look the way you want to look on your wedding day…if pearls don’t do it for you don’t wear them…or maybe wear them in a less prominent way (can you wrap them around your wrist a few times for a cool pearl bracelet? Or incorporate it into your bouquet?). Maybe wear them to the rehearsal dinner or something and choose your own jewelery for the wedding?

I agree, its your wedding and you don’t want to look back at photos and say “I wish I didn’t wear that pearl necklace”
Just tell her that you had already planned to wear the crystal earrings but you’d like to wear them to the rehearsal dinner 🙂 I’m sure she’ll understand

Maybe you could use her neclace in a different way. Maybe it could be wrapped and pinned around the stem of your bouquet?

I like the idea of the rehersal dinner. And the bouquet idea is cool too actually!
Good one – thanks 🙂
