So my Mom wants me to wear her veil from the 70’s, it’s elbow length with lace trim when she wore it back then it was white, but now as you can imagine it has yellowed from age so it is now ivory. My older sister wore it when she got married 11 years ago, but her dress was pretty traditional, it was also ivory. My dress is a mermaid style with a filly organza skirt, my dress is white. I know that me wearing the veil mean a lot to her but it’s just not going to suit my dress, should I wear it to make her happy? what should I do??

@sburger555: Have you seen that show Something Borrowed on TLC? If not, it’s about these old wedding dresses that get transformed into a dress more modern and fit for the bride. It’s quite amazing! So maybe something like that? Altering the veil a bit to make it more you?

A preliminary google search shows that there are ways to clean it and get it back to being white. Perhaps take it to a professional to have them restore it if you don’t want to risk doing it yourself.

EDIT: Sorry, double post.

It sounds like a sweet sentiment. I’m sure you can get it restored/dyed to match your dress.

I saw this picture and thought “hey I could love this” of course it would require me to alter my mom’s veil and Im just not sure she’s going to let me do that…hmmm this is going to require more thought.

Just saw your dress in your other thread (it looks amazing on you btw!) and an ivory/yellowed veil would definitely not work. Honestly, it sounds like she’s not being very supportive of you anyway, so just wear what you want!
