Today I found out that this weird precor machine thats is like an elliptical and a stairstepper combined is the devil.. seriously satan. I usually hate running more than anything so I offered to try this new machine with my fiance as an alternative and it turned out to be soooo much harder. It felt like I was in one of those moon bounce things but while carrying an extra 200 lbs.

I did it almost all out for 15 minutes straight (which was 1.25 miles of basically running up sets of stairs) and followed it with leg weights and an ab workout. I was at the gym for exactly an hour.

When I spell it all out like that it doesn’t seem like I did much, but my legs hurt so bad right now.

I was bad this weekend too. I didn’t work out Sat or Sun and my whole routine was messed up so I ate strange things at strange times throughout the day. I learned my lesson because it didn’t make my body feel good.

However, it didn’t completely derail me and I am still down two pounds since last week. My goal for this week is to continue my workouts monday through friday.

@ fifty – that is amazing girl!!!! 9 lbs…you are a machine and such an inspiration!

@ stassney – I know that exact machine that you are talking about, such a killer. That is great that you worked out for an hour.

@ sunny – MAN…it sounds like we ate almost the same things this weekend lol. I was with my fiance too (after not seeing him for 2 weeks) and I drank a whole bottle of wine one night! Then we had buffalo wild wings AND pizza in one day. I only worked out one day this weekend and it was just a short run. The next 2 weeks of my graduate program are going to be killer so I’m going to take a break from working out until Nov. 15th. That is our 6 month mark AND more importantly, all of my crazy/stressful Ph.D. stuff will be coming to an end for the semester. I can’t wait to have the time and energy to get back into the gym and be hardcore. Please let me know how you do on the lipo supplements if you get them!!

@ Jacqi – that’s awesome that you still lost 2 lbs!!! Keep it up 🙂

@future- wine is definitely a killer! I’ve stopped drinking on weeknights and I’m going to try to limit myself to 2 drinks or less on the weekends. I actually enjoy working out more when I am stressed, because it takes my mind off other stuff, so maybe you should try to keep at it and get a little cardio in.

@Stassney I think I know what machine you are talking about too! Is it the one where if you increase your stride length it’s like you are running (which is hard) or if you slow down it’s like a stair climber.  (the one at our gym has orange accents)  I will work on that one when my favs are taken…I like the arc trainer with the arm movey things and the expresso virtual bikes with crazy courses.

@ sunnygal  I feel your pain this was a HORRIBLE weekend for me…It was tough with Halloween and having friends up and drinks, etc…I was glad to at least have gotten my  Sat workout in before they got here!

sadly I think I ended up putting on a lb of food alcohol weight, when I weighed myself on Sunday, but I like to do my weigh in on Wed and I think I will be back to normal or even better by then

Monday got me back on track and I did more weight training at the gym and 4+ miles on the bike.

I am trying to find a better lifting program because the one I have is kinda mundane:

2X15

wallsit bicep curl w/ dumbell

tricep ext. w/ dumbell (skull crusher)

Free motion shoulder press

Free motion row

Free motion fwd. chest press

Leg press

leg curl on ball

hib abduction/adduction

med. ball twists

ball crunches

I think that is it…..any how any advice for adding new things?

@Bluebutterfly Yes, it is that machine! I’ve seen the most results with that one.. the results, combined with how hard it is for me to do.. must mean it’s working my problem areas more than any of the other exercise machines.

Where are you ladies!?! It’s been a few days since I’ve seen any new posts.  So an update from my horrible weekend of Halloween binge….I am happy to say that I am back down to my 10lb  weightloss since September…wooot wooot!! I was worried when I hopped on the scale at the start of the week, but I have pushed myself at the gym and watched my diet and am back down.

My body is starting to feel a difference with the weight training too.  And last night I was feeling extra motivated and decided to try my hand at running on the treadmill.  If you knew me you would know I hate to run!  I haven’t really run in years (since crew forced me to).  My main reason for not running is that the years of excessive downhill runs to practice caused me to have knee troubles.   Well the years have passed and the biking and elliptical workouts haven’t been causing any issues with said knee.  After 25 minutes (400cal burned) on the Cybex arc trainer I hopped on the treadmill and did a 15 min walk/jog piece.  I was started off with 2 min on 1 min off but had to switch half way in to 1:30 on/off.  I am hoping to incorporate more running into my cardio routine to spice things up.  Also, I have the secret goal of signing up for a 5k race at some point (if my body allows it).

Any other bees trying to get into running?

I try to run. I actually had a huge accomplishment this week and ran 4 miles in a row (on the treadmill). That’s longer than I’ve even gone before!

@bluebutterfly- I’ll be running a 5k turkey trot on thanksgiving, so I’m doing 2 5k’s a week to prepare. You should definitely sign up for a 5k and don’t be shy about it! You sound like you’re totally on the right track!

My challenge is to work more yoga and aerobic exercise into my schedule, which will be tough as I am working 7 days a week most weeks!  Even so, I’m determined to make it happen.  I’ll be staying more conscious of portions as well!

I have been rather proud of myself with the running this week…..on Monday I ran for 25 min 1min on/1 min off….I managed to get through just over 2 miles, post run I hopped on the arc trainer for 25 min.  Last night I ran on the treadmill for 35 min 1 min on/1min off at a higher pace than the prior day and got through just over 3 miles.  I don’t think that’s so bad for someone who hasn’t run in years.  The best part is that because I am easing my way into it I haven’t had any issues with my knee!

I do have some bad news though…the past few days my diet hasn’t been he greatest :(, due to an overlook and excess spending we are forced to eat cheapy meals until tomorrow.  Unfortunately, Fiance did the shopping and spent most our money on the quick, cheap, unhealthy eats.  I do have a bunch of apples though so I am trying to eat those with yogurt over what he got.

I am excited for today though, I get to meet with a trainer to do a program review.  Which means I will get  a new lifting program and other advice on the cardio front.  I am excited because the last time we met was back in Feb. when I had very different goals.  I am also meeting with a new trainer who I was told will be sure to offer me a challenging routine.

How have the rest of you ladies doing?
