- Wedding: April 2012
Where to begin? My fiance used to be a ski racer. When I met him I had never been skiing before, but decided to learn snowboarding instead because I like to do things different. He was always making fun of me, apparently ski racers arn’t too fond of snowboarders haha. Anyway, his parents own a condo up on Mt. Washington British Columbia, and so that’s where we decided to get married. I got ready in his parents’ condo with all my girls (they stayed the night before with me) and Aleksandr got ready in the condo next door with his guys. In the afternoon right before the ceremony, everyone but me left to go to the location and I waited for my ride via snow rhino, and came rolling up in this bad boy:
Immediately after we said our vows we grabbed our skiis and snowboard, which were stuck in the snow on either side of the archway, and walked back down the aisle. We strapped up and Aleksandr pulled me away from the ceremony over to the chairlift where we were lifted away. The lift took us right to the top of the mountain and then we made our way back down together. What a way to take the edge off after getting married haha. But oh man is it ever hard to snowboard in a corset! It was really cool becuase all our guests were waiting at the bottom cheering as we came in =)
After our ceremony we made our way to the reception, which took place in the town at the base of the mountain. Since it was April we were blessed with gorgeous spring weather and were able to pull off a snowy wedding without it being too wintery.
And thats about it! we had 95 people and we partied well into the night… till about 3 am actually. We also closed up a 25 year time capsule and had each guest fill out a fun little questionairre, can’t wait to open it up!
