I’m sure it all varies by venue. We just found our venue, a ski lodge in Utah, and they handle all of the major stuff except for the photographer and music. I’m fine with that, as it gives us a chance to shop around for those things.

As far as the specific video case, that seems not so bad if you consider that the videographer is adding time that he or she has to work the day of the wedding, as well as time in the editing process.

It will probably still turn out to be less expensive than if you had hosted a wedding at home, because you likely would have had many more guests to host where you live.

I’m getting married at Dreams, which is owned by the same company as Breathless and has basically the same packages (we looked at Breathless but wanted the ability to have kids there). There are additional costs, but there is a lot included in the wedding package itself. We originally budgeted for a lot of extras, but as we plan we keep asking ourselves if it is really worth the cost. Most of the time it is no. I think the only extras we will end up paying for are extra corsages and boutonniers for the rest of the wedding party, more hours of photography, and a DJ for the reception. We thought about the video as well, but I don’t know anyone who actually ever watches their wedding video after the first couple of years. I’d rather have the pictures to hang on the wall, and a nice album. Like everything, I think it just comes down to priority. I’m starting to really get annoyed by all of the “wedding porn” telling me that I need this and that for my wedding to be “perfect”.

Yup, I started around 7k and I’m over 13k right now and we aren’t even having a wedding…it’s just me and him.  Lol. It adds up QUICK! But I keep telling myself it’s still cheaper than a real wedding and we also get a honeymoon too lol

1Yan4Sarah:  We’re going to have our Destination Wedding at the same resort as you!! When are you getting married? Ours isn’t until November 2015, so if yours is before then, I would LOVE and appreciate any and all suggestions, tips, pictures, etc that you would be willing to offer!
