We are doing a movie-hollywood theme for our reception, and have thought of doing movie ticket gift certificates for the favors at the reception, well it was suggested to us! Too big of a favor, or just right? I can’t decide, and need to soon!
Any other ideas?

@alleycat610: I think that’s a great idea…I would love that as a guest, but wouldn’t that get extremely pricy?? How much would you make the certificates for??

I don’t know what the price of a movie ticket is where you live, but it would be too costly here.

Seems like it might end up being quite expensive. We have a similar theme, and we’re doing boxes of movie theater candy for our favors. They’re about $1 each.

Thank you!! I agree, it’s a very expensive favor! For that, I would have added a photo booth, and given away a normal favor. It was actually thought of by a would-be guest, who felt like it’s totally reasonable to spend that much ($6/ticket). I’m expecting circa 140 guests.
I’m sure most people would love to receive that as a favor – and I like it because I know it’s something the guests can use – but agree that the theater candy, or many many other things just seem a lot more reasonable!

It is pricey but if I received a movie ticket, I would be impressed and it would be my all time favorite wedding favor ever. It is just so useful, unlike every other favor I’ve ever received. And I’m not even a huge movie lover.

@alleycat610: you could always find out if they give discounts for a bulk purchase. It MIGHT drop the price down, since it’d be a guarentee for business. Kinda like stores/businesses that give discounts for any bulk purchase.
Never hurts to ask, right? and if it doesn’t put it in a reasonable price range, you aren’t obligated to get it. 🙂

Thanks for the advice! And, yeah, I must say, if I got the favor, I’d be pretty impressed. I’ve also just never seen it before, and think it’d be a super useful gift (and I’d rather spend a little bit more on SOMETHING that they would use, versus something that would just be wasted).
@ryna: I agree, on Friday we will have our final count, and I plan on calling them direct to see what they can do! It still gives me a month to get the second option (movie candy in fun popcorn boxes) in swing!
June 11th is finally coming up fast!! 🙂

I think that’s an awesome idea!! I say sign up for Groupon or LivingSocial, in the past few months I’ve gotten some good movie offers. LivingSocial just had one last week, $15 for tickets/popcorn/soda, and a few months back had a $9 for two ticket deal, so only $4.50 each!! Obv the first is way out of the picture, but there are things out there!
