Next month, I am going to be having what’s called a scapular muscle reattachment surgery. They’re taking my rhomboid and my trap muscles, which have largely seperated from my scapula, and taking them all the way off, cleaning them up, and reattaching them.
What this means is that I’ll be laid up for 4-6 weeks before I can return to deskwork, and as much as 3 months before I get to do the fun active parts of my job again. I’m hoping you have some great suggestions for ways to keep myself from going absolutely bonkers in the interem. We have Netflix and Hulu+ accounts, plus I have a kindle so the possibilities are pretty endless. Shows I already watch/have and love include Castle, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, New Girl, West Wing, Better Off Ted, Downton Abbey, Doctor Who.
We’re also going to start planning this shindig, so suggestions for your favorite magazines or websites to browse are also welcome!

@Jeip: Best of luck for your upcoming surgery!
Books: Gone Girl or Dark Places both amazing by Gillian Flynn, Serena by Ron Rash (being turned in to a movie like the other books I’ve listed!) some funnier books: anything by Chelsea Handler, she’s hilarious and Mindy Kahling or Tina Fey!
Shows on Netflix: Mad Men (currently they have seasons 1-4), 30 Rock (seasons 1-6), Friday Night Lights (haven’t seen it but it’s in my queue… all seasons), Greek (all seasons), American Horror Story (season 1…amazing!)
Movies I’ve liked on Netflix recently: Sassy Pants, W.E., L!fe Happens, Jolene, Butter, The Best and the Brightest (if you like Neil Patrick Harris!), Lucky, Young Adult
Hope this helps with suggestions!

Thanks so much for your help! I’ve listened to Tina Fey’s “Bossy Pants”, but I haven’t watched any of 30 Rock so I’ll have to check that out. And, also, I adore Neil Patrick Harris, so I’ll absolutely look for The Best and the Brightest. Thanks!
