I cried EVERY.SINGLE.DAY leading up to moving to TX from New Husband.  I mostly cried that I would miss my family, but then it would be little things like driving home and thinking “I won’t be driving on this road anymore” then oh man I would cry for the next 30 minutes LOL  I am not going to lie to you and tell you it got easier…it got harder as the time came closer, but what helped a lot was researching the area I was moving to and finding fun things to explore!  Although my inlaws live here, I didn’t even really know them before I moved – I had met them once 3 months prior.  Now that I’m here, sure I miss my family a lot, but I am making it work one day at a time.  Just think of your fiance and how much your support must mean to him!  It will be an adventure and when you do go home to visit it will be even better because distance makes the heart grow fonder 🙂  I am going home tomorrow for the first time since we moved (EEEEKKK SO EXCITED!!!!)

We are moving to the bay area from Boston and don’t have any friends there. I am actually looking at it as an adventure and a challenge to create a new social circle! There are great websites like meetup.com that help you meet people with the same interests with you, or you could volunteer for a while when you first get there and meet people that way.

PS i’d cry if I had to leave Austin, too. And i’m thinking of all the places within a 12 hour drive of there, and you’re right, that’s pretty bleak. I’m originally from Dallas, and I think Austin is fabulous – the only place in TX i’d ever want to live again!
