mkz26 :  insurance is monthly so once you cancel the old state’s plan you won’t have to keep paying it (at least employer sponsered plans worth that way). I think you’ll have trouble finding insurance coverage for a homebirth though – it’s riskier and they won’t want to pay for the midwife (particularly if you get a “midwife” vs an actual CNM). I had a midwife (CNM) birth in a hospital that was fully covered by insurance and I got the natural experience I was hoping for, plus the benefit of being in the hospital so that my hemorhage was managed before it could become dangerous.
