We are closing on our house the middle of this month. I send out Christmas cards every year and would like to put a note of some sort in the cards, saying we are moving, here is our soon to be address. We have some work to do on the house, so we probably won’t move in until the end of the month. I could send out New Year’s cards, but I already started signing Christmas cards. Anyone do this or have any ideas of how to announce we are moving, but don’t send any mail right away?

@jnov12: I would enclose a separate piece of paper with the infomation on it and your best guess re an occupancy date. I don’t know where you live, but here we fill out a card at the Post Office and they foward mail for a chosen period of time. Thee is a fee for this service.

I just used an address label with our new address. Folks are responding well. I would just wait until later in the month to send them out to avoid confusion.

I did this when be bought our house. I’m a photographer, so I custom design my cards every year and order through my lab. I usually do a 5×7 linen folded card, so the front was a photo, the inside left was a shot of our house decorated for Christmas and said “Our First Home” with the address. Then the inside right was a message and where our names went.

we just got a Christmas card in the mail with a moving announcement on one side and the actual card on the other (which was a picture of the couple’s daughter). super cute!
