@Miss Carrot:  Lake Calhoun is in Uptown which is a mostly 20-something young professional neighborhood. There are a lot of bars and restaurants that are popular on the weekends. The neighborhood especially near the bars on Lake street is well patroled. I would say it is a pretty safe place at night. Safer than a neighborhood like Cedar-Riverside that is lower income and mostly immigrants. One suburb I would stay clear of is Maplewood aka Maplehood, there are a lot of shootings and hmong related gang activity there. You may want to also look into neighborhoods to the north of Minneapolis off of the Northstar commuter rail which may make for an easier commute for your husband.

Lake Calhoun is a safe area. I prefer living in the suburbs, but Calhoun is a fun area that I’m sure you would enjoy.
