The nearest BART station for San Ramon is Dublin/Pleasanton station. From Camino Ramon, it’s about 5-10 min drive, but yeah I guess it depends on which part of San Ramon you’re in.

Posting again.. I don’t know if you’re still considering other cities, but I thought I’d post the complexes we considered when we were renting.  The Dublin/Pleasanton/San Ramon area is my part of town so I looked a LOT of apt. complexes in that area.  Again a disclaimer — our personal preference for style of place we wanted might not necessarily be yours, of course!

I don’t know Walnut Creek apt. complexes unfortunately, but my friends say their Alpine Park apt. is the one they liked best, you can google for the address since they don’t have a website.

DUBLIN (has BART station, has a nice mall, large movie theater/shopping complex, and pretty much all the national chain stores you’d expect within the city)

Park Sierra Apartments
http://www.sheaapartments.com, search in Northern CA apts.

Emerald Park

(I noticed they also have a Walnut Creek apt. complex so that might be worth checking out too though I don’t know where it is)

Stoneridge Apartments
http://www.lyonstoneridge.com
(Very near to the mall)

Avalon Communities

SAN RAMON (no BART access within the city but is close enough to Dublin, very suburban w/ not too much retail and mostly residential)

Mill Creek

(Also check out the "Canyon Oaks" community on the same webpage — sister property of Mill Creek, where we used to live)
