Mr. Tattoo isn’t the best at expressing emotions. Sadly, none of the men in his family are. They really do see it as girly and it’s quite sad they were all raised that way. You know, boys don’t cry, boys don’t have woman feelings, etc. So imagine my shock when he sends me this message yesterday: (obviously edited for names)
Mr. Tattoo says:
You’re doing great, Miss Tattoo. You’re a f*cking trooper. And just as soon as our schedules settle down we’ll be able to do all sorts of stuff. You’ll be able to get your hair and nails done whenever you want, because we will both have income.
And since I’m full time now and not part time, you will be able to quit f*cking [family dining and stupid lab jobs!] I appreciate everything that you do for this family and want you to know that you are a strong woman for keeping us afloat while everyone thought we would sink. I thank you from the bottom of myheart for standing beside me through this difficult period. I cannot wait to make you Mrs. Tattoo.
Seriously! Out of nowhere! I was just sitting here at work and not looking forward to working at the lab that night and he sent me that! I’ve been in a good mood since.
Anyone have partners that just surprise you sometimes?

That is so incredibly sweet of him! My guy isn’t the letter writing type but he always send me song lyrics during the day to say that he’s thinking of me.

That is simply amazing. i mean it. When guys who don’t normally express their emotions come out and say something so heartfelt, it just speaks volumnes, ya know?
and for the record, I agree with him, you have been a total trooper with the multiple job thing! I couldn’t have done it.

AW! What a fantastic little pick-you-up! You must’ve felt great reading that.
Sometimes my Fiance will write me poems and email them to me. They’re usually pretty touching/silly. But they still mean a lot to me.

@Miss Tattoo: awwwww, so sweet!!!! (and, you know he’s completely right, right? 😉 You’re definitely a trooper to do everything you are, plus plan a wedding!)
Yeah, my Fiance does things like that too. And, as crazy and weird as this sounds, it’s really sweet and special when he looks at me as says “how did I get so lucky?”. Makes me melt every time. And he is definitely NOT the sappy type. He can be romantic, yes, but he can also be cold-hearted and we’re talking artic temperatures here, too. (Those guys you see in the movies pulling their own bullets out? Yeah, he’s THAT kind of guy.)
He does other things out of the blue for me and the kids that make me wonder just how in the hell did I get so lucky to have a man like him for a Fiance and eventually, my husband.

AWWWW I love it 🙂 You deserve that!!
Darling Husband is pretty sensitive when it’s just he and I, so I’m pretty lucky that he usually is my biggest cheerleader 🙂

We have a dry erase board on our fridge and SO always leaves earlier than me so every once in a while he writes out a long note about how much he loves and appreciates me 🙂 It is a nice surprise to wake up to when grabbing the milk for my coffee 🙂

Aww I wondered if you were going to share that with the Hive after you sent it to me yesterday!!
I agree that it was wonderful of him and you very much needed and deserved that.
For all the bees that don’t quite understand what she is going through, trust me, being with her on a daily basis and seeing all she does is amazing. Working 13hr plus days and not complaining! Her body finally made her take a couple days off because she got sick earlier this week but again didn’t complain….She is and always has been all about taking care of her family.
Kudos.Miss Tattoo, you deserved that from him!

Yeah, working three jobs finally did catch up with me and I got sick. I even tried to work through it and had to leave my main job early and take a full day off to sleep. Starting next week I will only be working 11.5 hour days and serving only on late Friday nights and Saturday nights. Then at the end of September, I will no longer be working at the lab and I will continue to serve on the weekends. The plan was to keep the lab job through November, but since they bumped him up to full time, I don’t need to do that anymore.
I knew he appreciated it, but it was nice to hear it from him. And yeah…my eyebrows and nails need some serious grooming. I’ve just been hoarding money to keep us off of full welfare. (Mr. Tattoo was getting foodstamps because he was unemployed but he reported his new job so that has stopped) I’m happy to know that if one of us ever loses our main jobs, we would be there for each other instead of running away to save ourselves.
