@Mrs.Darling:  My fiancee and I are both changing our last names to a completely new name.

We went through our family trees, and ended up choosing a name from mine that she really, really LOVES (she’s already trying to buy mongrammed items with the new last name… and we haven’t even changed them yet! LOL)

I didn’t want to be Ms. *her last name* because her parents hate me.

She didn’t want to Ms. *my last name* because she has no connection to my dad (and my connection with him is tenuous at best).

We didn’t want to hyphenate because it’s just too much, especially when we have kids.

So, we are both changing our last name (just before the wedding, so we’ll be announced at the end of the ceremony as SingingMUA and Fiancee *last name*).

I like Mrs. and Mrs. personally. I think this would be a good fit for me…..

We’re doing Mrs. and Mrs.  I really like my last name and use it professionally so I want to keep it.  She is probably going to be taking my last name as well (though it isn’t 100% yet).  I’m more femme and although she isn’t butch by any means, she feels more masculine in the relationship.  She has mentioned that although she feels very silly about it, she feels a little strange being more masculine and taking a different last name (though she has no connection to her father and doesn’t like her last name anyway).  Have any of you (or your FIs) gone through anything similar?

I stuck with Ms.  Not sure why.  I just don’t feel like a Mrs.

I have NO IDEA what my wife went with.  Haha.  I guess we have never really had this convo before.  We also haven’t legally changed our names…..so we should probably get on that.
