My mom threw one big shower for both sides of the family.  The furthest anyone had to travel was about an hour and a half, but overall most people came!

I wanted just one big shower. It will be about 50 people or so. I figured it would just be easier to have it all in one day and then deal with the giant mess that will be in my house all at one time as well.  Plus we decided to reveal the gender at the shower and I wouldn’t want anyone to leak it, and for peoples feelings to get hurt.

I’ve just let things happen and it’s turned out to be multiple small showers.

I’d personally rather 2 small ones– that way you have more of a chance to talk to the people at each one and its less overwhelming, plus it’s probably easier to find a venue for 20-30 people than 50.

i am having three small showers. one with family, one with coworkers, and one with girlfriends.

my cousin had one big one and it was the worst shower i have been to! no one could see her open the gifts cuz :it was so crowded, and there were so many conversations going on at once it was loud and chaotic. i could tell the momma was very overwhelmed!!

I am having 2 showers, 1 for family and friends from my hometown, that one is about 30-40 people, and will be at 37 weeks. Then a smaller work one, joint with another girl after both of our babies are born. That one will be about 15 people, and 4-6 weeks after my LO is born.
