This morning I got a call from a health insurance company claiming I filled something out online for a free health insurance quote. As I was telling the person that I never filled this out, I recieved about 5 calls in a row (literally within the same minute) from other health insurance companies claiming the same thing. I was not able to answer many of the calls because they went to call waiting, but I was able to talk to one guy and I said I never filled anything out requesting this online. He kept saying that obviously I did because he had all my information and even recited things like my full name and birth date back to me.
The string of calls has stopped, but I keep getting random ones here and there as the day goes on. Has this ever happened to anyone? I’m a little freaked out because I never filled anything out and the people on the phone claimed that the only way they get this info is by me filling it out. I dont think any websites I use sold my info (amazon, etc) so WTF is this? How do I get it to stop? I’m just a little paranoid about ID theft or something, I guess.
