I work at a preschool and I find myself judging parents a lot! But at the same time I know I’ll do the same thing!

The moms who are like “how did they get this scratch?” “Did they poop today?” “Did they eat the avacodo?”

..yep. I’ll be doing all that plus some

I am currently 20 weeks pregnant, so I figure I have about 20 weeks left of being a perfect, know-it-all parent 😀

I have a lot of ideals, but I think the fact that I was a teacher for about 5 years helps ground me. Prior to being given my classroom, I was an incredible teacher. I knew everything ;). I had incredible grades and remarks in my student teaching and I had lessons and behaviour management strategies that teachers who had taught for 20 years picked up! About 3 days into my first class I realised that really, I knew nothing. I had to throw out almost everything I “knew” and find out how to work with this class. I figure it will be the same with baby 🙂

Ah man, the big one for me was all the supplemental stuff you’re meant to do with/for your baby. You know, lots of reading (they get maybe 4 stories/week in practice), listening to classical music (when I remember, not enough to make them smarter!), intentional playtime with things like blocks (I just let them get on with it, sometimes no toys at all because they’re just as happy exploring the flat solo), baby sign language (bahaha), baby swimming lessons (with twins, not so much), baby massage (took the class, never really do it properly), baby music classes (does jumping in the door bouncer to 60’s French pop while I do the dishes count?), feeding them only homemade purée (we jumped straight to baby-led and they sometimes even eat things like processed breadsticks), exclusively breastfeeding until 6 months (exclusive bottle from 3)… *headdesk*

I do make attempts, but some things I just don’t have the energy to make happen!
