My Fiance and I are quite the ecclectic couple and have been in agreance since day one that we wanted a retro wedding. However, since his family has become aware of our upcomming nuptuals they have demanded cumbia be played. They have backed me into a corner! We really, really dont like cumbia and niether of us have any rhythm to dance to it! My fiance has washed his hands of it and is really pushing me to just give in and have cumbia. I cried most of the night at the prospects of it. Am i being unreasonable to want MY music at the wedding? ANyone else having the same problem?

Its your wedding! do what you want..throw in some cumbia once or twice to appease the others but stick to your guns and play what you want to play.
*i had to look up cumbia :/ its a type of latin music right?

@totheislnds: LOL! Yeah its a type of latin music. We are both latinos but I’m form Panama and he is Mexican. Still we are both rock lovers without an ounce of latin rhythm…

We had to make a similar concession for our parents. They had in mind some stuff that they wanted to hear, so we went ahead and put it in a couple spots (mainly whenever the band takes a break and they turn on the iPod…that’s when the parents get to hear “their” songs). 🙂 It’s nice to play some music that means something to them, so throwing a couple songs in won’t hurt the overall theme of your day!

Ehh let them have it! The point is to have fun and let your guest enjoy themselves
