The majority of my ceremony music has been set since last year (The ensemble I perform with is providing music for the ceremony & I wouldn’t put it past my director to sneak something crazy in if the list weren’t carved in stone; he actually told our officiant that Mr. Cajun & I were going to be entering to the Imperial March from Star Wars!)
We also just booked our DJ, so I now have music on the brain even more than I usually do. To make matters worse, I ran across this reception video
And now there is so much want.
Has anyone else gotten far enough along to be thinking about their music yet? If so, what was your inspiration…?
Yes. More along the lines of, “If I hear this song, I’ll murder the DJ,” but I know what song I want to walk down the aisle to (well, it’s the song we’re all walking to), as well as what I think will be our first dance. We aren’t doing any other special dances. I have no idea what else, haha.
@cajungirl81: I get a page not found when I click on the Vimeo link?? But I do want to mention my friends used a lounge version of the Imperial March for the recessional music for their Star Wars themed wedding LoL.
I’ve already picked out the songs for our ceremony, although I’m not sure if it’ll be alright according to order and timing… my music’s a little backwards from traditional, I want to do instrumentals for when guests are getting seated, and all my processional/recessional choices have vocals. I really like the lineup I chose, and Fiance approved too!
The only songs I’m really listening for are for special dances. Right now I really love “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz, but I’m not sure if that will be overdone by next year. My DJ advised not too think about it too much (except your no plays, which for me is chris brown) until 2-3 months out. New songs will come out and the songs that we love now will probably change. all i know is i want this song to play when people are drunk http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1ZKaR-9Kt4&ob=av2n
The music you bees listed sounds great. This is one area I am just clueless on. Fiance picked our 1st dance song and I think I have my father-daughter song but besides that nothing. I want the traditional here comes the bride but for the other parts of the ceremony I want something less traditional. I guess this will be an upcoming project on my to do lists 🙂
@WoodenShoes: Oo that’s such a good point! I wonder if my picks will change within the next year. I’m pretty sure the recessional won’t (it’s been one of my favorite song for… 4 years haha, also it was my ringtone for Fiance for a while) but the processional music might. I hope I still like it though hehe. I would think special dance songs wouldn’t change too much if you chose them now though, because they are usually classics or songs that have special meaning!
Are any of you ladies planning to take dance lessons for your first dance? (or do any of you already know how to dance?? hehe)
@elysion: I’m pretty sure the resulting squee burst several eardrums (including those of the poor bridesmaid who was on the phone with me at the time). Of course, after she watched it for herself she understood. And my other three are just as crazy; they could make something like that work!
Lessons…? If only to make sure Mr. Cajun doesn’t trip over his own feet…or step on mine. I studied dance from PK-HS, and danced competitively for several years; Mr. Cajun has never danced. Ever.
