@Mrs Grape: Hm, sorry, I’m kinda confused. Most “after-wedding receptions” like for when the couple has a destination wedding or whatever, are a few days or weeks after the marriage ceremony. Will people really want to come to celebrate your marriage like almost a year after the fact? Are you sure about this? Have you already asked around and gotten a lot of positive feedback and RSVPs? I just don’t want you to have to re-live what happened on your marriage dinner day, when not many people could show up.

for the music thing, play what you like! Music from all the same era could get tiring after a few hours.

@Mrs Grape: Yay, awesome!! I’m so excited for you, girl. It was so sad to see that big storm come in 🙁 Fingers crossed for no November snowstorms next year!

I can’t remember if you are having dinner at this second reception. If that is the case, then I definitely think 40s and 50s tunes would be great to play whie people are eating. And then for the beginning of dancing you could play some 40s and 50s, mix in later eras because the more people drink the more they want to sing Bon Jovi and Journey, and then slow it down sometimes with the love songs of the 40s and 50s. I think that would be an excellent mix of music.
