We also had an iPod reception and played a lot from the following artists during our dinner. The following artists have a lot of mellow but not sleepy songs that work really well when people are trying to visit, etc.

  • Death Cab for Cutie
  • The Decemberists
  • Joshua Radin
  • Iron & Wine
  • Corey Crowder
  • Norah Jones
  • Schuyler Fisk
  • Amos Lee
  • Belle & Sebastian
  • Ben Harper
  • Brett Dennen
  • John Mayer
  • Jamie Cullum
  • Jason Mraz
  • Lissie
  • Adele

Good luck! 🙂

I’d recommend the Vitamin String Quartet. They play hundreds of songs that you have heard of, all orchestral versions.

Doing your music is very tough, as I have learned. It is the toughest thing yet for me. I wish you luck!

I am doing more music with lyriucs for our cocktail hour as other people listed – ray charles, jack johnson, norah jones, ingrid michaelson etc.

For dinner i am doing music with out words, I am using jazz music. I found this guy on the radio and really thought his music is great for dinner music …. Chuck wilson, Echo of spring, the first 4 tracks or so are very nice dinner music, But this is if ou like  jazz music …  … of course, There is also miles davis, and Cannonball adderally mercy mercy mercy.

Good luck!
