Hello Bees! I’ve been reading for a while but this is my first post 🙂
We are having a duo of violins for our ceremony. The priest recommended that we do a short musical piece between the readings. Does anyone have any ideas? Something short (or something that sounds good shortened). I’m thinking about 2 minutes (my fiance is concerned that we will have an unseasonably hot day and people will be roasting and want the ceremony over with already). Not too slow, but not too fast. I LOVE Canon in D, and will use that for the processional. I wish I could find something that full and beautiful for the ceremony. Thoughts? I’m also undecided about the recessional, so would love to hear thoughts there too (I’m not as picky about that one).

We are going with Air on G for the musical interlude. I thought about it for the processional but it is so beautiful that it made me teary eyed just listening to it at our trio’s recital and I don’t want to be a blubbering mess walking down the aisle : ) I figure I can hold it together better during the middle bit.
We’ve also decided on Mendelssohn’s wedding march for the recessional — so over the top that it makes me laugh. Our second choice was Hornpipe – nice and upbeat.
Is your ceremony outside? I’m providing fans and parasols to help beat the heat.

Thanks Envirobride. I’m finding I like a lot of Bach pieces, and was also thinking of that one for the ceremony. One of our violinists recommended Hornpipe or Entrance to the Queen of Sheba (Handel) for the recessional. I wish I could find something that connected with me as much as Canon does.
We’re hoping the weather lets us do an outside ceremony. It will be in Maine, which generally has mild weather (we wanted to do a spring wedding, but average temps for May were much too cold). I checked the weather for the past 15 years on our date, and normal weather seems to be 70 degrees and overcast. But winter and spring thus far were so unseasonally warm, that I hope it doesn’t mean it will be too hot. I found a long range forcast that predicts a high of 83. But seeing as they can’t predict the weather 2 days from now, I don’t put much faith in predicting the weather 87 days from now. There is no tree cover, so my fiance wants to rent a canopy. We will likely decorate with parasols, so after the ceremony, 6 people will be able to use the aisle decor as their sun shade for the outdoor cocktail hour. Maybe I should see if I can find a cheap source of asian-type fans. We have lots of Asian style decor for our barn wedding (hence EastMeetsBarn 🙂

Sounds great! We will both hope for nice but not too hot weather!
I bought some fans at a local store but there are tons on oriental trading – that is where I got my parasols and they are very nice. I didn’t buy one per person, figure people will share and mostly the women will want them anyway. We don’t have any tree cover either. Our reception will be inside and air conditioned though so people only have to suffer a short time LOL.
