I have been on the hunt for the best eyeliner because mine ALWAYS smudges and/or gives me that double line…you know, it ends up over my lid.  I think I have finally — and I mean FINALLY — found the one that works.  Urban Decay’s eye liner called Perversion lasts all day.  16+ hours.  It’s a liquid liner but dries and STAYS.

I am also a big, big fan of the Urban Decay’s Naked eyeshadow pallette.  I bit the bullet about a year ago and got it…and despite wearing it most every day for the past year, I still haven’t even made a dent!  $50 well spent, despite being incredibly unwilling to spend that much on eyeshadow at first.

I’m still in search for the perfect foundation but I do have a handful of ones that I like.  Not love, but like.  I have oily skin and stuff just doesn’t stay all day.  If you DO NOT have oily skin, I would try Bare Minerals.  Light coverage, feels great, just doesn’t work well with oily skin.

For primers, I love love love the Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease eyeshadow primer.  I also like the Photo Finish primer line from Smashbox.  I haven’t tried all of them but the ones I have tried I do like a lot.

MakeUp Forever Ultra HD foundation is great for all skin types and has buildable coverage so you can apply a very light layer on your freckles areas and a bit more on the rest of your face. Make sure to get color matched by a worker since they now have very accurate color IQ machines things.

Real Techniques or EcoTools sponge (I really don’t think the original beauty blender is worth the price tag). And I personally love applying foundation with my ring fingers. Sounds un-hygienic but just wash your hand thoroughly before. I find that the slight heat of my finger really helps melt my foundation into my skin and you can hardly tell I’m wearing foundation at all! I think it’s worth a shot to try and see if it works for you when you’re trying your makeup look out. I then use a sponge for my concealer and then pat with my finger before setting.

A hydrating primer is you have dry skin. I like the Smashbox Hydration one or the Becca purple one, can’t remember the name. Backlight filter primer I think

Lorac Eyeshadow Primer

Normally I’d recommend the tarte shape tape concealer but that’s d probably end up covering your freckles so I’d go with the Maybelline Age Rewind since it’s also buildable (drugstore so won’t be at Sephora) I don’t think any highend light coverage concealer is worth the price tag.

A good setting powder. I haven’t tried any highend ones as the drugstore ones work great for me. I’d recommend the Wet n Wild photofocus ones or Maybelline FitMe

Tarte has a double sided eyeliner that’s great. One side is a liquid pen and the other is pencil.

Good eyelashes and Duo lash glue

Wet N Wild makes amazing blushes that are crazy pigmented! Tarte also has good blushes if you wanna go highend. NARS too.

Lorac eye shadows and ABH eyeshadows are amazing.

For mascara I’d also go drugstore since you just need something to blend your natural and fake lashes together.

ETA: don’t forget about skin care! Pixi (available at target) has amazing glow peel pads that are magic! They make your skin glow and your pores shrink. First Aid Beauty also has amazing products for different skin issues at Sephora. I love their mouisturizer as well as their intense chemical peel. I also love Origins products.

Another vote for the UD setting spray! Also, I love their foundation and their Cannonball waterproof mascara. I love NYX highlighters and Marc Jacobs lipstick.

Also, if you tell us your skin type we might be able to help a bit more since there’s different products for oily vs dry skin.

I am seriously loving Lancome primer & Lancome 24 hour foundation. I put it on with a slightly damp beauty blender and feel that it gives just the right amount of coverage, and it makes me look like I have zero pores. It’s fabulous. I also use the UD setting spray. UD naked palettes are amazing. I have 3 ๐Ÿ™ˆ I also love love love Nars for blush/bronzer. Just started using Nars concealer as suggested by some bees and I’m loving that too! Coverage is amazing and it really stays. Definitely find a good under eye/eyelid primer!

I had my makeup done professionally and after kissing DH for a few pictures, my entire chin/nose/cheek area was worn off. Maybe try a few different foundation/primer options and do some kiss-proof testing! ๐Ÿ˜œ

soon2behb :  I’d go with two concealer then if you wanna really conceal under eyes. Go for the Tarte shape tape to put right under your eyes and the Maybelline age rewind for the areas a bit lower where you have freckles. That’ll give you good coverage without covering your freckles.

Build up the MUFE Ultra HD Foundation in areas where do have redness.

I prefer Laura Mercier’s brightening translucent powder to the regular one. That’d be good for locking everything in place.

ETA: if you go with the Tarte Shape Tape, be careful as it’s crazy full coverage and you need the tiniest amount! I’d use the back side of the doe foot applicator that has less product and since you’re gonna apply this concealer just below the eyes I’d apply two tiny dots first. Literally two itty bitty dots. Blend and then build. I literally use 5-6 dots to conceal and highlight the entire triangle undereye area people do for contouring and highlighting. So since you’re gonna be using another concealer for the rest of the area start with 2 dots!

I would def go with a good primer (Urban decay has some great ones). Also use an eye shadow primer… UD for that too. I would also suggest a setting spray by Urban Decay as well. Very good quality and have different options for different skin types.

As far as foundation goes.. that sort of depends on the look youre going for. Makeup forever has some great stick and liquid foundations (Ultra HD) that are full coverage. They are my personal favs.

Tarte has amazing concealers!!

Anastasia Beverley Hills makes good eye brow products as well as countour sticks (so good!).

Highlighter is a must have! I love anything Laura Mercier! (Some Nars as well)

There are lots of great eye shadows in different brands… but I personally like Urban Decay. Lots of options and good pigment!

Everyone has a different preference with mascaras. I love Benefit’s Better than sex mascara!

Stila eye liners are good..

Blush is something you can’t go too wrong with. Pick something you love!

As for lips.. I reccomend a matt liquid lipstick. Kat Von Dee has some great ones!

Sorry for all the typos, wrote this fast! Hope it helps ๐Ÿ™‚

I did my makeup for my wedding as well!

Like a lot of other PP’s have said, a good primer is key. I have super oily skin and actually double up, first I use Cover FX’s mattifying primer, and on top of that I used the Porefessional.

For foundation I also like MUFE, I use the Face & Body. It’s very lightweight but has buildable coverage.

My favorite undereye concealer is Benefit’s Fake Up.

I also get some redness, and to cover that I used a green setting powder from NYX on top.

My favorite blushes are Tarte’s Amazonian Clay blushes.

Deinitely get a nice pair of falsies! They make all the difference in photos.

Good luck!

I’m still finalizing all my products, but here’s what I’m using for my combo/blemished skin ๐Ÿ™‚
eyes:

tartlette in bloom pallette (warm brown shades – blend beautifully! – will use the lighter shades from ABH modern renaissance though as these are more pigmented), urban decay eyeshadow primer, kat von d tattoo eyeliner, ardell self-adhesive lashes (find these very easy to put on! but not for everyone, some mixed reviews online), telescopic mascara for the bottom lashes (doesn’t clump), abh dipbrow

face:

I’ve been using tarte maracuja oil at night and then their moisturizer before applying makeup – I also LOVE their frixxtion stick for exfoliation – which is key for my makeup looking good on my skin .

currently using the ELF mineral primer.. but may switch out for smashbox, porefessional from benefit on my MASSIVE pore areas.. (sigh – I miss my 15 year old skin), estee lauder double wear foundation (just got this and it looks REALLY good on my skin – returned the MUFE HD .. no complaints, this was just better for my skin), tarte shapetape and fit me maybelleine concealer mixed (shapetape alone gives me terrible under eye texture), tarte amazonian clay blush, tarte pro-glo palette for contour/highlight and right now I have the Kat Von D setting spray (got a travel size from sephora, but may get the Urban decay) – oh and laura mercier setting powder (LIGHTLY! – baking doesn’t work for my dry spots).

Lips

MUST have for me is the ELF lip exfoliator! So cheap and so worth it, I’m using Kat Von D liquid lipstick in nosferatu.. not sure if I’ve exactly gotten the hang of applying it quite yet but it’s the only color that I LOVED. so.. hopefully practice makes perfect.

I totally feel you on the under eye bags.. I have terrible genetic ones that I have had to accept will never go away haha. But I’m hoping my concealer duo will cover them enough for photography. I’ve also considered ordering some of the under eye patches from tarte to hydrate and decrease the texture of them… but I’m trying not to fixate on them too much ahha.. even though that feels impossible at times.

livingeasy :  What type of skin do you have?  I’ve been eyeing the Estee Lauder double wear…  My skin is pretty oily and things literally slide off my face.

I just invested in a few Real Techniques brushes and WOW.  Instant love.  They all work really well, and I feel like I have more precision with all of them.  Plus they are SOFT.

ljm308 :  I have an extremely oily t-zone and dry patches throughout my face. No issues with slippage for me. I do use primer with it and haven’t tried without and I do use a light dusting of laura mercier powder. I always order my foundation from sephora because the returns are so easy and foundation is the hardest for me to find something that works for the extreme oily and extreme dry skin on my face haha.
