@alejandria:  I think this is a great idea.  After all, it’s a mutual decision to get married, no matter who asks first!  I do not have any experience with mutual proposals to offer,  but I do know all about being engaged to a video gamer.  If you get him an Xbox, could you leave it at a friend/relative’s place, and just wrap up one of the controllers?  Or maybe put one of those 10 or 20-dollar gift cards you can use for downloadable Xbox content into a card and write that the best is yet to come?  Those should be easy enough to hide.

Me and my Fiance sort of took turns, he asked me to marry him and I said yes, and he promised he’d get me a ring eventually. A few months later I decided I want to get him a ring too so I re-proposed to him with it. Then a few more months later he got me a ring. But I consider the first time he asked me to be when we got engaged

It’s not a proposal on my part, but I plan on getting my Boyfriend or Best Friend a ring he’s been wanting (it’s silly, it’s a Green Lantern ring) for a while for our upcoming anniversary month (never picked a day).  It might be a good spark to lead to maybe discussing a ring for my hand… or it might just be like the watches I’ve gotten him O_o

Men seem to like watches – it’s almost the only ‘jwelry’ they get to wear.  I’ve gotten my SO a couple, and had one engraved with a line from a shared favorite movie a few years back.

I like the idea of a complimentary gift to go along with the proposal – but it’ so hard since guys want it to be a surprise, and in your case you can’t lug around an Xbox, or even just a controller in your purse indefinietly to each nice dinner along.  😛

Whatever you decide, I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.  Maybe you should make celebratory engagement chicken AFTER he does it, and serve the controller ont he table?
