I just finished DIY-ing my wedding invitations and I’m pumped!
Stationary is just NOT something Fiance and I were willing to spend money on, especially on our small budget. So we bought a pack of A6 white cards at Wal-Mart for $11.99 and used them for our Save-the-Dates and our invitations.
I literally made the design in MS Paint using clipart. Haters gonna hate.

After I printed them all out on our printer, I coffee-stained the paper to look a bit worn. (So I guess if you count the printer ink and the coffee, they were probably more like 50 cents each, maybe.) Once they were all dry, I pressed them all with an iron to flatten them out, and we’re sending them out this week!
I’m really glad I didn’t pay $3.00/each from some printing website. Would they have been gorgeous? Of course. Would anyone have framed it and put it on their wall forever and ever? Nah. Cheapskate invites FTW.

marriedtopizza: Beautiful! The coffee staining is so creative and looks great with border you made! The texture is perfection. Well done!!!!! Gives me hope since I am planning on DIY my own invites 🙂 Thanks for sharing
Any chance you want to share the STD?

Those look really nice! Black an white is classic and doesn’t even need a fancy printer.
I’m lazy so I would have skipped the staining and just cut off the margins instead.

Hey thanks guys! 🙂 You’re all super sweet.
Also, lol, I forgot to blur out the last names on the website. Nobody steal my identity, k?
seejanebee: Sure! I don’t have a photo of a printout but here’s the design we used for our save-the-dates:

Bravo to you! Save that money.
Last year our Walmart had wedding invitations go on clearance for $2.00 so I bought like 5 boxes. People were being extra nosy (small town) wondering if I was getting married to my Fiance. I simply said you never know what you can use these for. Anyway, I’m getting ready to print my gold dot two buck finds out cause now we are getting married. I’m using the other ones to print menus and programs. Not bad for $10 and som

marriedtopizza: They are totally pretty and do the job! Good for you! I’m all about putting your money and time where you want. I was insane about stationary, personally, and my Maid/Matron of Honor thought I was nuts, but that’s what I was passionate about. Meanwhile, I spent $260 on my dress and less than $20 on my shoes cause I DGAF about clothes.

AutumnFlower: sweetiepetey: Thank you!
MexiPino: That’s what it’s all about – spend the money where you care to spend it! Me, I am splurging on neither clothing nor stationary, but going hog wild with booze. 😛

They look great!
No need to be defensive–everyone divvies up their budget as they see fit (says the girl who deliberately allocated 25% on her own budget just on invites!)
